From the Field to Your Container
Pod selection sets the colour ceiling
Milling cannot add colour. The ASTA band a lot can be quoted against is decided when the pod is chosen, which is why the mill starts from graded whole pods rather than from whatever is available.
Seed and stem content set before milling
Seed percentage and stem removal are decided at this point, not corrected afterwards. Both change the apparent colour of the finished powder or flake.
Milled or cut to the specified size
Powder runs at 40, 60, 80, 100 or 120 mesh, crushed flake at 40 to 60 mesh, coarse crush at 3 to 5 mm and rings at 2 mm. The mill is set to your figure before the lot runs.
Moisture checked, then packed
Ground products are checked against their published moisture limit and packed in cartons, paper bags, woven sacks or big bags depending on how you discharge.
