Product Overview
Fluted polypropylene sheet is a polyolefin product: a lightweight material known for its versatility across many industries and applications. It is used in graphic arts, packaging, agriculture, automotive and industrial markets.
Common applications include signage, trade show and retail display, binding and stationery, crates, separators or liners in packaging and vehicle trunk liners. Sturdy, reusable, recyclable, returnable and waterproof, it is superior to corrugated paper and suits fresh-cut asparagus and celery, vine-picked grapes and ice-packed corn and broccoli.
Polypropylene offers good resistance to chemical or acid attack, has low moisture absorption and gives superior electrical insulation.
The sheet is manufactured from a high impact co-polymer polypropylene resin. Corona treated grade is a top quality twin-wall substrate produced to meet the demanding needs of the screen printing and advertising markets, treated to 45 dynes, which is ideal for screen and digital printing.
Key Benefits
Excellent Mechanical Property
The twin-wall structure gives strong toughness, impact resistance, high compressive strength, shock buffering, high hardness, good bending behaviour and long service life.
Light Weight and Material Saving
To reach the same mechanical result, an extruded corrugated sheet uses less material, costs less and weighs less than a solid board.
Heat and Sound Insulation
The hollow flute structure transfers far less heat and sound than a solid board of the same thickness.
Anti-Static Conductive and Flame Retardant Grades
Modification, compounding and surface treatment produce anti-static, conductive and flame retardant versions of the same base sheet.
Stable Chemical Property
Against carton board or wooden board the sheet offers chemical resistance, waterproofing, moisture resistance, weatherability, anti-corrosion and fade resistance.
Smooth Surface in Many Colours
Masterbatch modification extrudes the sheet in different colours and the surface accepts paint and ink jet printing well.
Environmentally Friendly
Polypropylene is non-toxic and non-polluting, simple to dispose of and can be recycled.
Applications and Fit
Application Scenarios
- Printed exhibits
- Political and election signs
- Special event signage
- Advertising board
- Real estate signs
- Lawn decoration
- Indoor and outdoor signs
- Special displays
Who It Is For
- Screen and digital printers
- Sign and display manufacturers
- Fresh produce packers and shippers
- Packaging converters
- Automotive interior and trunk liner fabricators
Problems It Solves
- Corrugated paper absorbs water and fails in ice-packed or humid produce chains.
- Untreated PP will not hold screen or digital ink.
- Single-trip packaging cannot be returned and refilled.

Technical Features and Materials
High impact co-polymer polypropylene resin. Printing grade board is corona treated to 45 dynes on both faces during extrusion.
Manufacturing Process
- Raw Material High impact co-polymer polypropylene resin, with anti-static, conductive, UV or flame retardant masterbatch added at the extruder when a modified grade is ordered.
- Extrusion The sheet is extruded on one of six production lines to the ordered thickness and weight per square metre. Printing grade stock is corona treated on both surfaces during extrusion.
- Cutting and Creasing Sheets are cut to the ordered panel size and creased where the part has to fold.
- Fabrication Boxes, totes, trays, sleeves and layer pads are formed by welding, riveting or sealing the edges and corners, and accessories are fitted.
- Inspection and Packing Finished goods are inspected, then packed in plastic shrink film on wooden pallets or to the packing method the customer specifies.
From Enquiry to Delivered Goods
Quality Control
ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System
Operations run to an ISO 9001:2000 quality management system so that the process meets international standards.
100% Inspection Before Delivery
Quality control is carried out inside our own factory and every product is 100% tested before it is released for delivery.
Extrusion Line Control
Thickness, weight per square metre, flute geometry and colour are set and checked on the extrusion line so each sheet matches the ordered specification.
Fabrication Check
Cut sizes, crease positions, welded corners and sealed edges are checked against the approved sample before packing.
Certifications and Standards
Operations run to an ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. Container resin can be specified as ESD safe or flame retardant meeting UL 94 HB flame retardant grade. Where food contact packing is required, 100% new virgin materials are used. We do not publish certificates we have not been given — ask and we will send what applies to your order.
Customization and Comparison
Customization Options
- OEM and customised orders are welcome. Send the drawing and the requirements of the style you want and we will submit samples for your approval.
- Thickness, weight per square metre, panel size, colour and grade are all set per order.
- Boxes and containers can be produced in different colours, thicknesses and styles to your detailed requirements, including dividers, layer pads and accessories.
- Printing and self-adhesive vinyl application are available on corona treated printing grade stock.
Comparison With Other Options
| Option | What It Means for You |
|---|---|
| Fluted Polypropylene Sheet | Waterproof, reusable, returnable, recyclable, prints at 45 dynes |
| Corrugated Paper | Absorbs moisture, single trip, cheaper per sheet |
| Untreated PP Sheet | Same structure but ink adhesion is unreliable |
Use Guide
- Ask for corona treated grade whenever the panel will be printed or vinyl applied.
- Corona treatment has a working life, so print the stock rather than storing it for a long time before printing.
- For produce packing, choose colour and weight for the cold chain and washdown the line actually uses.
- Available colours include white, black, orange, green and red among others, and other colours are extruded to request.
