Product Overview

Because of the excellent resistance of polypropylene resin, the sheet can be extruded as a flame retardant grade through a unique technology. That solves the problems of non flame retardant board and of board whose flame retardant performance does not last.

Flame retardant plastic sheet has better fire retardant performance than a common sheet, and it raises safety significantly when corrugated plastic is used in household appliance and automotive applications.

Flame retardant sheet is fabricated into packaging boxes, turnover boxes, isolating plate, pallets, dunnage, base plate and cork base, so it is widely used in drug products, cosmetics and inflammable or explosive material logistics.

Key Benefits

Excellent Mechanical Property

The twin-wall structure gives strong toughness, impact resistance, high compressive strength, shock buffering, high hardness, good bending behaviour and long service life.

Light Weight and Material Saving

To reach the same mechanical result, an extruded corrugated sheet uses less material, costs less and weighs less than a solid board.

Heat and Sound Insulation

The hollow flute structure transfers far less heat and sound than a solid board of the same thickness.

Anti-Static Conductive and Flame Retardant Grades

Modification, compounding and surface treatment produce anti-static, conductive and flame retardant versions of the same base sheet.

Stable Chemical Property

Against carton board or wooden board the sheet offers chemical resistance, waterproofing, moisture resistance, weatherability, anti-corrosion and fade resistance.

Smooth Surface in Many Colours

Masterbatch modification extrudes the sheet in different colours and the surface accepts paint and ink jet printing well.

Environmentally Friendly

Polypropylene is non-toxic and non-polluting, simple to dispose of and can be recycled.

Applications and Fit

Application Scenarios

  • Packaging boxes and turnover boxes
  • Isolating plate and partitions
  • Pallets, dunnage and base plate
  • Drug product and cosmetics logistics
  • Inflammable and explosive material logistics

Who It Is For

  • Household appliance manufacturers
  • Automotive interior and packaging engineers
  • Pharmaceutical and cosmetics logistics operators
  • Chemical and hazardous goods packers

Problems It Solves

  • Standard packaging board does not meet fire safety requirements on some lines.
  • Surface-treated flame retardant materials lose the property over time.
  • Wooden dunnage adds fire load and needs export fumigation.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Raw Material High impact co-polymer polypropylene resin, with anti-static, conductive, UV or flame retardant masterbatch added at the extruder when a modified grade is ordered.
  2. Extrusion The sheet is extruded on one of six production lines to the ordered thickness and weight per square metre. Printing grade stock is corona treated on both surfaces during extrusion.
  3. Cutting and Creasing Sheets are cut to the ordered panel size and creased where the part has to fold.
  4. Fabrication Boxes, totes, trays, sleeves and layer pads are formed by welding, riveting or sealing the edges and corners, and accessories are fitted.
  5. Inspection and Packing Finished goods are inspected, then packed in plastic shrink film on wooden pallets or to the packing method the customer specifies.

Quality Control

ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System

Operations run to an ISO 9001:2000 quality management system so that the process meets international standards.

100% Inspection Before Delivery

Quality control is carried out inside our own factory and every product is 100% tested before it is released for delivery.

Extrusion Line Control

Thickness, weight per square metre, flute geometry and colour are set and checked on the extrusion line so each sheet matches the ordered specification.

Fabrication Check

Cut sizes, crease positions, welded corners and sealed edges are checked against the approved sample before packing.

Certifications and Standards

Operations run to an ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. Container resin can be specified as ESD safe or flame retardant meeting UL 94 HB flame retardant grade. Where food contact packing is required, 100% new virgin materials are used. We do not publish certificates we have not been given — ask and we will send what applies to your order.

Customization and Comparison

Customization Options

  • OEM and customised orders are welcome. Send the drawing and the requirements of the style you want and we will submit samples for your approval.
  • Thickness, weight per square metre, panel size, colour and grade are all set per order.
  • Boxes and containers can be produced in different colours, thicknesses and styles to your detailed requirements, including dividers, layer pads and accessories.
  • Printing and self-adhesive vinyl application are available on corona treated printing grade stock.

Comparison With Other Options

OptionWhat It Means for You
Flame Retardant SheetBetter fire retardant performance than a common sheet, property built in at extrusion
Standard Corrugated PlasticNo flame retardant performance
Wooden DunnageAdds fire load, absorbs moisture, needs fumigation for export

Use Guide

  1. Tell us the fire requirement you have to satisfy at enquiry stage so the correct grade is quoted from the start.
  2. Container resin can be specified to UL 94 HB grade where the fabricated part rather than the raw sheet is what gets assessed.
  3. Keep flame retardant stock separated and labelled in your warehouse, since it looks the same as standard board.
