Installing Temporary Floor and Surface Protection
Get the thickness and the joints right and the board lasts several phases

Choose Thickness Against Traffic
Temporary surface protection board is supplied at 2.2, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mm, at 275 g/m² to 900 g/m², normally at 2000 × 1000 mm.
Lighter 2.2 to 3.0 mm board suits glazing, fixtures and low traffic areas. Use 4.0 to 5.0 mm where trolleys, pallet trucks and heavy foot traffic run.
Prepare the Surface
Sweep and clean the surface before laying board. Grit trapped under protection is the main cause of scratching, and the protection itself then grinds it into the floor.
Lay and Tape the Joints
Butt the boards rather than overlapping them so there is no trip edge, then tape every joint. Untaped joints let grit migrate under the boards and open up as soon as traffic starts.
At walls and thresholds, run the board up slightly or use a separate strip so the edge of the finished floor is covered.
Colour Code by Phase
Board is available in blue, black, grey, orange, red and white. Using a distinct colour per phase or trade lets a site manager see at a glance which protection is current and which is left over.
Lift Clean and Reuse
The board has good physical durability and chemical resistance and is waterproof, so it can be lifted, wiped down and used again on the next phase. Store it flat rather than rolled or folded so it lies down cleanly next time.
What Else It Protects
The same board protects waterproofing membranes, infrastructure networks, fixtures during construction, and windows.

FAQ
FAQ
What Thickness for a Site With Trolley Traffic
Use the heavier end of the range, 4.0 or 5.0 mm.
Should Joints Be Taped
Yes. Untaped joints let grit under the boards, which is what causes scratching.
Can the Board Be Used Again
Yes. It is waterproof and chemical resistant, so it can be lifted, cleaned and reused on the next phase.
