The Four Standard Hollow Block Sizes

The published tables across the range use the same family of sizes. On the QT10-15, a 400 x 100 x 200 mm hollow block for exterior walls gives twenty pieces per mould and 3,600 to 4,800 per hour. A 400 x 150 x 200 mm partition block gives fourteen per mould and 2,700 to 3,150 per hour. A 400 x 200 x 200 mm load-bearing block gives ten per mould and 1,800 to 2,100 per hour. The thicker the block, the fewer fit the pallet.

Solid Bricks And Pavers Fill The Pallet

A 230 x 110 x 70 mm solid brick fits fifty to a QT10-15 mould, against ten hollow blocks, which is why it runs at 7,800 to 12,500 pieces per hour. A 225 x 112.5 x 60 mm paving brick gives twenty-four per mould at 4,050 to 4,500 per hour, and a 200 x 100 x 60 mm interlocking brick gives twenty-seven per mould at 5,250 per hour.

Curbstones Are A Separate Case

The QT10-15 table lists a 200 x 160 x 60 mm road curb stone at eighteen pieces per mould and 3,240 per hour. Municipal curb profiles usually come from a drawing rather than a catalogue, so the mould is quoted against the drawing.

Matching Size To Machine

Small semi automatic machines behave the same way. The QT40-1 gives seven 400 x 100 x 200 mm blocks per mould and three 400 x 250 x 200 mm blocks, and its 240 x 115 x 53 mm brick mould holds twenty-four for 17,280 pieces per 8 hours. The ratio between sizes is consistent; only the absolute numbers move.
