What This Machine Does
The VT60, sold in the United States as the VSB60, is a guide and seat machine built for a shop that takes in everything from subcompacts to big diesels. It will set up and run any head up to 1220 mm long, and up to 1370 mm with a special fixture, which is the practical reason a shop buys it rather than a car-only machine. The work it covers is the full head job, not just the seat: installation of valve guide inserts, cutting of valve insert pockets in aluminium or cast iron, simultaneous multi-angle cutting of valve seats, drilling and tapping for threaded studs or removal of broken exhaust studs, and bronze guide liner installation and reaming. Simultaneous multi-angle seat cutting is the part that changes the day's throughput, because the seat form is produced in one pass instead of one angle at a time. Operating air pressure is 0.8 MPa.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Takes heads up to 1220 mm long and 1370 mm with a special fixture, so subcompact and big diesel heads run on one machine
- Simultaneous multi-angle cutting produces the whole seat form in one pass instead of angle by angle
- Cuts valve insert pockets in both aluminium and cast iron heads
- Installs valve guide inserts and bronze guide liners and reams them on the same machine
- Drills and taps for threaded studs and removes broken exhaust studs, so stud work does not go to another bench
- One machine covers guide work seat work and stud work, which is the whole head job in one setup
Where Valve Guide & Seat Cutting Machine VT60 Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- A machine sized for car heads cannot take a big diesel head, which splits the work across two shops
- Cutting each seat angle separately is slow and gives an inconsistent seat form
- Guide insert installation and reaming on a separate setup loses the reference to the seat
- Broken exhaust studs stop a head job when there is no way to drill them out on the machine
- Insert pockets in aluminium and cast iron need different handling that hand tooling struggles with
Who It Is For
- Cylinder head specialists building a dedicated headwork business
- Engine rebuild shops handling both car and heavy diesel heads
- Workshops that currently send guide inserts and stud removal out to a subcontractor
- Distributors supplying head machining equipment to engine rebuilders
Application Scenarios
- Installing valve guide inserts in a worn cylinder head
- Cutting valve insert pockets in an aluminium head before fitting new inserts
- Cutting a multi-angle valve seat form in one operation
- Removing a broken exhaust stud and tapping the hole for a new threaded stud
- Installing and reaming bronze guide liners
- Running long diesel heads up to 1370 mm with the special fixture

How It Compares With the Alternatives
| XAIMC TS60 valve seat and guide cutting machine | The TS60 is built for motorcycle and small multivalve heads up to 600 mm; the VT60 runs heads up to 1220 mm and adds stud and guide insert work |
|---|---|
| Single-angle seat cutting | Cutting each angle in turn takes several setups and gives a seat form that varies; the VT60 cuts the angles simultaneously |
| Sending guide and stud work out | Subcontracting guide inserts and broken stud removal adds turnaround to every head; this machine keeps the whole job on one bench |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Set up the head on the machine, using the special fixture if the head is longer than 1220 mm
Step 2
Confirm shop air is available at 0.8 MPa
Step 3
Install valve guide inserts or bronze guide liners first and ream them to size
Step 4
Cut the valve insert pockets if new inserts are being fitted, to suit aluminium or cast iron
Step 5
Cut the valve seats with the multi-angle cutter in one pass
Step 6
Drill and tap for threaded studs or remove broken exhaust studs as required
Step 7
Check seat width and concentricity on the first valve before working through the head

Questions About Valve Guide & Seat Cutting Machine VT60
How long a cylinder head will it take?
Any head up to 1220 mm long as standard, and up to 1370 mm with a special fixture. Send us the longest head you run and we will confirm whether you need the fixture.
Does it cut all the seat angles at once?
Yes. It performs simultaneous multi-angle cutting of valve seats, so the seat form is produced in one operation.
Can it remove broken exhaust studs?
Yes. Drilling and tapping for threaded studs and removal of broken exhaust studs are both jobs the machine is set up for.
Does it handle aluminium heads as well as cast iron?
Yes. Cutting of valve insert pockets is specified for both aluminium and cast iron.
What air supply does it need?
Operating air pressure is 0.8 MPa. Confirm your shop air supply can hold that before installation.
What is the VSB60?
VSB60 is the US model designation for the same machine.
What are your payment and trade terms?
FOB CFR and CIF. Payment is 30 percent by T/T on order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
