Overview

What This Machine Does

The CM6241 is a parallel lathe built around a rigid spindle system for shops that rough hard and still expect a finished size. The guide ways and every gear in the headstock are hardened and precision ground, which is what gives the head stock gear train the rotating accuracy and low noise it runs with. Maximum swing over the bed is 410mm and the gap is removable for larger diameter work, so a flange that will not clear the bed does not have to leave the shop. Speed changes are made on levers and the feed and thread gearbox carries a range of feed rates and thread cutting positions. Two protections matter in daily use: an overload safety device on the apron, which stops the feed drive being damaged when a tool digs in, and a braking device available as pedal or electromagnetic, so the spindle can be stopped deliberately instead of coasting. Each machine is supplied with a tolerance test certificate and test flow chart.

Key Benefits

Why Buyers Choose This Machine

  • 410mm maximum swing over the bed with a removable gap for larger diameter work
  • Hardened and precision ground guide ways and headstock gears keep rotating accuracy and keep noise down
  • Overload safety device on the apron protects the feed drive when a tool digs in
  • Choice of pedal or electromagnetic braking so the spindle stops when the operator decides
  • High rigidity spindle system holds size through heavy roughing cuts
  • Lever speed change and an easy-operating gearbox for feeds and thread cutting
  • Tolerance test certificate and test flow chart supplied with every machine
Application

Where Parallel Lathes Machine CM6241 Earns Its Place

Problems It Solves

  • Work larger than the bed swing has to be sent outside unless the gap can be removed
  • Soft unground gears and ways become noisy and lose rotating accuracy within months of heavy use
  • A tool digging into the cut can wreck the feed train without an apron overload device
  • Spindles that coast are slow to stop and unsafe in a busy shop
  • Flexible spindle systems push the cut off size when depth of cut increases
  • Buyers cannot verify accuracy at acceptance without a tolerance test record

Who It Is For

  • General engineering shops doing medium-duty turning
  • Maintenance departments turning large diameter replacement parts
  • Subcontract machine shops that must show tolerance documentation to customers
  • Machinery importers supplying workshops that rough heavily
  • Technical training centres needing a rigid safe manual lathe

Application Scenarios

  • Roughing and finishing shafts in a general machine shop
  • Facing and boring large diameter flanges and pulleys with the gap removed
  • Cutting threads and feeds through the gearbox on repair components
  • Production turning where the apron overload device protects an unattended feed
  • Shops that need documented tolerance testing before a machine is accepted
  • Training and second-operation work alongside CNC turning centres

Comparison

How It Compares With the Alternatives

Lathe without an apron overload deviceA dig-in on an unprotected machine can strip the feed train; the CM6241 trips the overload instead
C0636N Bench Metal Lathe MachineThe C0636N is a bench machine at 360mm swing; the CM6241 is a parallel lathe with 410mm swing built for heavier roughing
Lathe supplied without accuracy documentationThe CM6241 comes with a tolerance test certificate and test flow chart, which shortens machine acceptance at your end
Machines with as-cut headstock gearsHardened and ground gears keep the drive quiet and hold rotating accuracy through the life of the machine
Use Guide

Running the Machine

Step 1

Level the machine on its foundation and check the bed for twist

Step 2

Confirm the gap piece is fitted and bolted for normal turning and removed only for large diameters

Step 3

Set the spindle speed on the change levers for the material and diameter

Step 4

Select the feed rate or thread pitch on the gearbox before engaging the lead screw

Step 5

Check the apron overload device and the brake work before running unattended cuts

Step 6

Take a test cut and compare it with the tolerance test certificate at acceptance

Step 7

Keep the hardened ways clean and lubricated and check gearbox oil regularly

FAQ

Questions About Parallel Lathes Machine CM6241

What is the maximum diameter the CM6241 will turn?

410mm maximum swing over the bed. With the gap removed, larger diameter work can be accommodated within the gap; send us the diameter and width of the part and we will confirm it fits.

What braking is fitted?

A pedal brake or an electromagnetic brake. Tell us which you prefer when you place the order.

What does the overload safety device do?

It is fitted on the apron and protects the feed drive if the tool digs in or the carriage runs into an obstruction, so the damage is a trip rather than a stripped feed train.

Is any accuracy documentation supplied?

Yes. A tolerance test certificate and test flow chart are included with the machine.

What voltage will it be built for?

The voltage frequency and phase you specify on the order. Send your supply details with the enquiry.

What accessories can be supplied with it?

Chucks, face plate, steady rest, follow rest and tool post options are quoted against the work you run. Tell us your typical part sizes.

What are your trade and payment terms?

FOB CFR or CIF, with 30 percent by T/T on order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
