Overview

What This Machine Does

The GS-1000 is a foot-operated guillotine shear for cutting sheet without power, tooling or a hydraulic system. The operator sets the sheet against the gauge and treads the pedal, so both hands stay on the work and the sheet does not shift as the blade comes down. That is the real reason shops keep a foot shear next to the bench: straight cuts on light gauge material without waiting for a powered machine. Blades are high carbon and chrome steel, and the machine cuts mild steel, aluminium, copper, brass, zinc, lead and plastic sheet, with a maximum processing capacity of 1.5mm. The range covers 1000mm, 1010mm and 1250mm bed widths in steel plate or cast iron construction, so a shop can match frame mass and bed width to the work rather than buying more machine than it needs. Machine weights run from 238kg net on the GS-1000 upward through the range.

Key Benefits

Why Buyers Choose This Machine

  • Pedal shearing keeps both hands on the sheet so the cut does not wander at the start of the stroke
  • No motor or hydraulic pack to install which means the shear can go anywhere in the shop
  • High carbon and chrome steel blades hold an edge on mild steel and on soft non-ferrous sheet
  • Cuts mild steel aluminium copper brass zinc lead and plastic on the same blade set
  • Steel plate or cast iron construction offered so frame mass matches the work
  • Bed widths of 1000mm 1010mm and 1250mm across the range cover most light sheet work
  • Nothing to power up means the machine is ready for a one-off cut in seconds
Application

Where Hand Guillotine Shear Machine GS-1000 Earns Its Place

Problems It Solves

  • Hand snips distort the edge and leave a wavy cut line on wide sheet
  • Holding the sheet while working a hand lever lets the material creep during the cut
  • Powered shears are oversized and expensive for light one-off cutting
  • Soft materials such as copper and lead tear on blunt or unsuitable blades
  • Light frames flex and the cut closes up on the blade part-way along the sheet

Who It Is For

  • Sheet metal and HVAC shops cutting light gauge material
  • Maintenance workshops needing a shear without a power connection
  • Signage electrical and decorative metalwork shops cutting non-ferrous sheet
  • Distributors supplying entry-level workshop shears

Application Scenarios

  • Cutting blanks from light gauge sheet before folding or forming
  • Trimming ducting flashings and trims in an HVAC or roofing shop
  • Cutting copper and brass sheet in electrical and decorative metalwork
  • Sample and prototype sheet work in a toolroom or maintenance shop
  • Workshops without a suitable power supply for a hydraulic shear

Comparison

How It Compares With the Alternatives

Q11 foot power shearerThe Q11 offers cutting lengths to 2000mm with a sliding guideway; the GS-1000 is a compact bench-scale foot shear for shorter cuts in light material
QC12Y hydraulic swing beam shearA hydraulic shear cuts much heavier plate and long lengths under power; the GS-1000 needs no power supply and suits light gauge and occasional cutting
Hand snips and nibblersSnips distort the edge and are slow across a wide sheet; a foot shear cuts the full bed width in one straight stroke
Use Guide

Running the Machine

Step 1

Check the sheet thickness and material are within the machine capacity

Step 2

Set the gauge for the width you are cutting

Step 3

Slide the sheet in flat against the gauge and hold it with both hands

Step 4

Tread the pedal through a full stroke rather than part-way

Step 5

Check the first cut for squareness before working through a batch

Step 6

Keep the blade edges clean and free of swarf between cuts

Step 7

Have the blades reground when the cut edge starts to burr

FAQ

Questions About Hand Guillotine Shear Machine GS-1000

What thickness can the GS-1000 cut?

Maximum processing capacity is 1.5mm, and the model table lists 1mm maximum shearing thickness for GS-1000 GS-1000I KHS-1000 and KHS-1250 and 1.6mm for TSC1010/1.6. Capacity falls on harder material, so send us your grade and thickness.

Which model should I choose?

Choose by bed width and construction. The 1000mm models suit most light sheet work, KHS-1250 gives a 1250mm bed, and GS-1000I is the cast iron version.

Can it cut copper and brass?

Yes. The machine is used on mild steel, aluminium, copper, brass, zinc, lead and plastic with the high carbon and chrome steel blade.

Does it need electricity?

No. It is foot pedal operated with no motor or hydraulic system, which is why it can be sited anywhere in the shop.

How is it packed and what does it weigh?

Packing sizes and weights are listed by model, for example 155x100x58cm and 238kg net 295kg gross for the GS-1000. Tell us your port and we will quote FOB CFR or CIF.

Can I buy replacement blades?

Yes. Send us the model of your machine and we will quote a blade set against it.
