What This Machine Does
The T8445 and T8465 repair brake drums, discs and shoes on vehicles from mini cars up to heavy trucks, which is a wider span than most brake lathes cover. The unusual point of the machine is its twin spindle layout, with the two spindles perpendicular to each other: the brake drum and shoe are cut on the first spindle and the brake disc on the second, so neither job is a compromise setup borrowed from the other. Brake discs are cut on both sides at the same time, which keeps the two faces parallel and halves the machining time. The box casting is integrated, giving the machine the rigidity a heavy truck drum needs, and the skateboard has bi-directional automatic feed with two feeding speeds through mechanical gear transmission. An out-board supporter is fitted to help load heavy work onto the first spindle. The machine can also process flywheels.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Twin perpendicular spindles so drums and shoes run on one spindle and discs on the other
- Both sides of a brake disc are cut at the same time keeping the faces parallel
- Covers vehicles from mini cars up to heavy trucks on one machine
- Integrated box casting gives the rigidity needed for large truck drums
- Out-board supporter helps load heavy drums onto the first spindle
- Skateboard bi-directional automatic feed with two feeding speeds
- Mechanical gear transmission built for a long working life
- Flywheels can be machined on the same lathe
Where Brake Drum and Disc Lathe Machine T8445 Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- Heavy truck drums exceed the capacity and rigidity of car brake lathes
- Cutting a disc one face at a time leaves the two faces unequal and takes twice as long
- Using one spindle setup for drums and discs compromises both jobs
- Heavy drums are difficult to load and support without an out-board support
- Brake shoes cut to a different radius than the drum give poor initial contact
- A separate machine is otherwise needed to resurface a flywheel
Who It Is For
- Truck and bus workshops maintaining their own braking systems
- Brake reconditioning shops handling commercial vehicle work
- General repair workshops with a mixed car and truck workload
- Distributors supplying commercial vehicle service equipment in export markets
Application Scenarios
- Machining heavy truck brake drums that are beyond a car-sized lathe
- Skimming car and light truck brake discs on both faces at once
- Relining and cutting brake shoes to match a machined drum
- Resurfacing a flywheel during a clutch job
- Mixed workshop handling everything from mini cars to heavy commercial vehicles

How It Is Built and What Can Be Changed
Operations Performed
- Turning
- Disc facing
- Drum boring
- Brake shoe cutting
Quality Control
- Run-out of both spindles measured before the machine leaves assembly
- Parallelism of the two disc faces checked after a double-sided test cut
- Automatic feed tested in both directions at both feeding speeds
- Out-board supporter alignment checked with a loaded test drum
- Machine run in and sample drum and disc machined before packing
Customisation Options
- T8445 or T8465 selected from the largest drum and disc you machine
- Adaptors and clamps specified for the hub types in your market
- Brake shoe cutting tooling quoted where you also reline shoes
- Supply voltage and frequency set for your market
- Manual prepared in your working language
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Brake disc lathe C9350 / C9370 / C9372 | The C series is built around car and light truck rotors with adapter-based mounting; the T8465 takes work from mini cars up to heavy trucks on a rigid twin-spindle box casting |
|---|---|
| Drum and disc brake cutting lathe C9350C / C9370C | Those machines are for medium and small drums and discs; this machine adds heavy truck capacity plus brake shoe and flywheel work |
| Replacing heavy truck drums | A truck drum with material left is worth machining; replacement on a multi-axle vehicle is a large parts cost on every brake service |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Measure the drum disc or flywheel against its service limit before cutting
Step 2
Mount a drum or shoe on the first spindle using the out-board supporter for heavy work
Step 3
Mount a disc on the second spindle for double-sided cutting
Step 4
Select one of the two feeding speeds for the pass you are taking
Step 5
Set the bi-directional automatic feed and take a light first cut
Step 6
Complete the cut then check thickness and surface finish
Step 7
Cut the brake shoes to match the machined drum before refitting

Questions About Brake Drum and Disc Lathe Machine T8445
What is the difference between T8445 and T8465?
Capacity. Send us the largest brake drum and disc diameter you machine and we will confirm which of the two suits your workload.
Can it handle heavy truck brakes?
Yes. The machine covers the reparation of brake drums, discs and shoes on vehicles from mini cars up to heavy trucks.
Why does it have two spindles?
The twin spindles are perpendicular to each other. The brake drum and shoe are cut on the first spindle and the brake disc on the second, so each job has its own proper setup.
Does it cut both faces of a disc at once?
Yes. It cuts the brake disc double-sided simultaneously, which keeps the faces parallel and saves time.
Can it machine flywheels?
Yes. Flywheels can be processed on the machine as well as brake components.
What are your payment and trade terms?
FOB CFR and CIF. Payment is 30 percent by T/T on order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
How is it packed and what is the lead time?
Machines are crated for sea freight with fumigated timber where required. Lead time depends on the model and voltage, and we confirm a date with the quotation.
