Our original site says it plainly: AI, EPS or CDR format technical drawings are easily quoted. That is not a preference, it is a production requirement. Cutting paths, fold lines and laser detail all come from vector geometry, and none of them can be recovered from a JPEG.
The four things
- Vector artwork in AI, EPS or CDR format, with text converted to outlines so the font does not need to travel with the file.
- The finished letter height in millimetres. Not the cap height of the font file, and not the height on your drawing at whatever scale it happens to be.
- The material and finish: 304 or 316 stainless, aluminium, brass, acrylic or PVC, and brushed, satin, polished, mirror, painted, powder coated or plated.
- Whether the letters are illuminated, and if so whether the light comes out of the face, onto the wall, or along the edge.
What happens without a vector file
A raster logo can be traced, but tracing invents the curve. On a plain sans-serif word the difference may be invisible. On a script, a serif face or a laser cut emblem it is not, and the difference only becomes obvious when the letters arrive. Laser cut face detail in particular cannot be produced from a raster image at all.
Details worth adding if you have them
- Return depth, and any limit imposed by a landlord or a fascia zone
- Fixing method and the wall construction, because tape, stud and bolt all need different things from the wall
- Pantone or RAL colour codes, which have to be confirmed before production in any case
- For a replacement letter, a photograph showing the existing return and rim, not only the face
- Stand-off distance on halo work, because it changes the whole appearance
Things that are not required
There is no minimum order quantity, so you do not need to justify the volume. There is no form to fill in on this site: the enquiry goes to email and comes back as a quotation. And a full engineering drawing is not expected for a straightforward letter set. The four items above are enough.
Convert text to outlines before sending. A file that references a font you own and we do not will open with a substitute, and the substitute will be quoted.
