We make a professional DFM study for all of our molds and submit it to you for comment. A normal JEC DFM contains the following items.
- Every assumption in writing before fabrication starts
- A single place to raise changes while they are still cheap
- Your own requirements folded into the same document
- A record both sides can refer back to during the build

Part number and name, steel and resin material, injection machine specification.
Injection system
Detailed pictures of the gating proposed for the part.
Main mold layout
The overall mold with dimensions shown.
Parting and split lines
Product main parting lines and the split lines of the inserts.
Draft and thickness
Draft angle analysis and a product wall thickness study.
Ejection and cooling
Ejection layout and concept, plus the cooling sketch layout.
Finish and tolerance
Product surface finish review, then part and steel tolerance review.

DFM Study — Common Questions
Is dfm study included in the mold price?
It is part of how we build molds rather than an item sold separately. Where you want it as a stand-alone service, say so in the enquiry and we will quote it that way.
What do you need from us to start?
3D part data in STEP, IGES, Parasolid, CATIA or SolidWorks, the resin, the expected annual volume and your mold standard if you have one.
How long does it take?
The quotation comes back within two working days. The engineering itself runs against the project schedule agreed in that quotation. Specific durations: TBC per project.
Who will we be dealing with?
Our engineering team, which has been trained on customer mold standards and corresponds in English. Response is no later than 24 hours.
