What This Machine Does
This is the long arm end of the hydraulic radial drill range. All three models sit on a 350 mm column with a base 2400 x 1000 x 200 mm, which is what carries an arm that reaches 1600 mm on Z3040x16/1 and Z3050x16/1 and 2000 mm on ZQ3050x20/1. That reach means a large weldment or a long base plate can be drilled from end to end in one setting. Clamping of the assemblies and spindle speed changing are hydraulic and all controls sit on the head stock. Every model has 16 spindle speed steps from 25 to 2000 r/min and 16 feed steps from 0.04 to 3.2 mm/r, with 315 mm of manual spindle travel and 115 mm automatic. Z3040x16/1 takes 40 mm drills on an MT4 spindle; Z3050x16/1 and ZQ3050x20/1 take 50 mm on MT5. The worktable is 630 x 500 x 500 mm and the spindle nose stands 320 to 1250 mm above the base plate depending on model.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- 2000 mm arm reach on ZQ3050x20/1 covers long parts without moving the workpiece
- 350 mm column on all three models supports the long arm without the head dropping
- 2400 x 1000 x 200 mm base plate takes the whole workpiece so no separate table is needed
- 16 speeds from 25 to 2000 r/min covers 50 mm drills and small reamers on one machine
- 16 feed steps from 0.04 to 3.2 mm/r let the feed be matched precisely to the cut
- 315 mm manual spindle travel reaches through deep holes without resetting the head
- Hydraulic clamping and speed change keep the operator at the head stock controls
Where Radial Drilling Machine Z3040x16 Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- Long parts have to be craned and repositioned when the arm is too short to reach the far holes
- A light column lets a long arm sag and the hole position drifts
- A small worktable means the part overhangs and has to be supported separately
- Coarse feed steps force a compromise between hole finish and drilling time
- Short spindle travel interrupts a deep hole part way through
Who It Is For
- Heavy fabrication and structural workshops
- Machine tool and machinery builders drilling beds and frames
- Pressure vessel and boiler manufacturers
- Shipyard and heavy equipment repair workshops
- Distributors supplying large radial drilling machines
Application Scenarios
- Drilling hole patterns along long base plates and machine beds
- Multi-hole work on large fabricated weldments in one setting
- Bolt circles on large diameter flanges using the 2000 mm arm
- Deep hole drilling with the 315 mm manual spindle travel
- Tapping and reaming after drilling on heavy components
- Production drilling of large parts where repositioning would cost a crane lift

How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Radial drilling machines Z3040x13/1 and Z3050x12/1 | Those reach 1250 to 1300 mm on 240 to 350 mm columns; this group puts every model on a 350 mm column so the arm can go out to 1600 or 2000 mm |
|---|---|
| Radial drilling machine Z3040x16/2 series | The /2 series adds a digital readout for hole positioning; this /1 group has the same hydraulic clamping and 16 speed drive without the readout |
| Radial drilling machines Z3063x20A and Z3080x25 | Those are the heavy machines for 63 and 80 mm drilling; this group covers 40 and 50 mm where the reach rather than the hole size is the requirement |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Set the workpiece on the 2400 x 1000 x 200 mm base plate or on the 630 x 500 x 500 mm worktable
Step 2
Swing the arm out to the hole and clamp the column head and arm hydraulically
Step 3
Select the spindle speed from the 16 steps at the head stock
Step 4
Select the feed step from 0.04 mm/r for fine work up to 3.2 mm/r for heavy drilling
Step 5
Engage the automatic feed for the 115 mm stroke and use the manual travel for deeper holes
Step 6
Release the clamps and traverse to the next hole without moving the part
Step 7
Keep the arm ways clean and greased so the head traverses freely at full reach

Questions About Radial Drilling Machine Z3040x16
How far does the arm reach?
350 to 1600 mm on Z3040x16/1 and Z3050x16/1, and 350 to 2000 mm on ZQ3050x20/1. All three sit on a 350 mm column.
What is the largest hole these machines drill?
50 mm on Z3050x16/1 and ZQ3050x20/1 with MT5 spindles, and 40 mm on Z3040x16/1 with an MT4 spindle.
How big is the base plate?
2400 x 1000 x 200 mm, with a separate 630 x 500 x 500 mm worktable, so long parts can sit on the base itself.
What speed and feed range is available?
16 spindle speed steps from 25 to 2000 r/min and 16 feed steps from 0.04 to 3.2 mm/r on all three models.
How deep can the spindle go in one stroke?
315 mm by hand and 115 mm on automatic feed. For deeper holes the head is set on the arm and the manual travel is used.
What foundation and shipping arrangements are needed?
These are large machines with a 2400 x 1000 x 200 mm base. Send us the model and we will confirm foundation requirements case dimensions and gross weight before shipment.
What are your trade and payment terms?
We quote FOB CFR and CIF. Payment is 30 percent by T/T with the order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
