What This Machine Does
The CW61125D heads the D series of heavy duty horizontal lathes, continuing through the CW61140D, CW61160D, CW61180D and CW61200D as swing increases. The work they take in is face turning, outside diameters and bored internal holes on large components, together with metric, inch, module and diametral pitch threading. The top slide can be driven under power on its own for a short taper, and a long taper is turned automatically by combining longitudinal carriage feed with top slide feed, so a taper does not have to be split into steps or set up on an attachment. Drilling, boring and trepanning are also within the machine's range, which matters when the part is too heavy to move to a second machine for a through hole. The series is characterised by power, high spindle speed and high rigidity, and it is intended for heavy cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous parts using carbon and alloy tooling. Machines are packed in a wooden box sized to the build.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Five swing sizes from CW61125D to CW61200D so capacity is matched to the part rather than to the catalogue
- Automatic long taper turning by combining longitudinal feed with top slide feed
- Powered top slide cuts short tapers without a separate taper attachment
- Drilling boring and trepanning on the lathe so heavy parts are not lifted to another machine
- Metric inch module and pitch threading for heavy repair and gear work
- High spindle speed with high rigidity for heavy cutting with carbon and alloy tools
- Wooden box packing sized to the machine for export shipment
Where Heavy Duty Lathe CW61125D Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- Long tapers cut in steps leave witness marks and never match a drawing profile
- Setting up a taper attachment on a heavy machine costs more time than the taper itself
- Lifting a heavy part to a boring mill for a through hole adds hours and risks alignment
- Light machines chatter and lose size when carbon and alloy tools take a heavy cut
- Large module and pitch threads need a machine carrying those charts
- A single swing size either limits the work you can take or wastes capital
Who It Is For
- Heavy engineering and roll shops
- Steel cement mining and power plant maintenance departments
- Shipyard and large pump repair workshops
- Subcontractors taking in oversized turning and boring
- Importers supplying heavy industry with large capacity manual lathes
Application Scenarios
- Turning end faces and cylindrical surfaces on large shafts and rolls
- Boring and trepanning through holes in heavy components
- Cutting long tapers in one automatic pass rather than in steps
- Heavy roughing in ferrous and non-ferrous parts with carbon and alloy tooling
- Module and pitch thread cutting on large screws and gear components
- Plant maintenance machining of worn heavy rotating parts

How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Heavy Duty Turning Lathe Machine CW61125H | The H series covers the same operations in its own frame range; choose the D or H build with us against your part weight length and duty |
|---|---|
| Workshop gap bed lathe | A workshop machine cannot hold a heavy roughing cut with carbon and alloy tooling on parts of this size without losing size |
| Taper turning attachment | Combined longitudinal and top slide feed turns a long taper automatically, with no attachment to set up and no steps in the profile |
| Moving heavy parts to a boring mill | Drilling boring and trepanning on the lathe keep the hole concentric with the turned diameter and save a crane lift |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Install on a foundation designed for the machine weight and level the bed over its full length
Step 2
Confirm the part is balanced and clamped before bringing the spindle up to speed
Step 3
Use the powered top slide alone for short tapers
Step 4
Engage combined longitudinal and top slide feed for long tapers and check the angle on a test cut
Step 5
Take drilling boring and trepanning operations in the same setup as turning
Step 6
Match speed and feed to carbon or alloy tooling and the material being cut
Step 7
Recheck bed level after the first weeks of production and maintain lubrication

Questions About Heavy Duty Lathe CW61125D
Which model of the D series should I order?
CW61125D, CW61140D, CW61160D, CW61180D and CW61200D differ in swing. Send us your maximum part diameter, length and weight and we will confirm the model.
Can it turn a long taper automatically?
Yes. Longitudinal carriage feed is combined with top slide feed so the taper is cut in one continuous automatic motion. Short tapers are cut by the powered top slide alone.
Can it bore and trepan as well as turn?
Yes. Drilling, boring and trepanning are all within the machine's range, which avoids moving a heavy part to a second machine.
What tooling does it suit?
It is built for heavy cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous parts with carbon and alloy tools. Tell us your materials and we will advise on speeds and the tooling package.
How is a machine this size packed?
In a wooden box sized to the build. Send us your destination port and we will confirm case dimensions and shipping on FOB CFR or CIF terms.
What supply voltage do you build to?
The voltage frequency and phase you state on the order.
What are your payment terms?
30 percent by T/T on order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
