Overview

What This Machine Does

The DK7745 belongs to the DK77 series of CNC wire cut EDM machines, which erode a profile with a travelling molybdenum wire instead of cutting it with a tool. That is what lets the machine put a finished contour through hardened steel, carbide and other conductive material that would destroy a milling cutter, with no cutting force to distort a thin part. Motion is carried on high precision V-shaped guide rails, with linear guide rails as an option, and P3-grade high precision ball screws, so the wire follows the programmed path rather than the backlash in the axes. Standard maximum cutting taper is plus or minus 6 degrees over 80 mm, with plus or minus 15 30 and 45 degrees optional, and positioning precision is within 0.02 mm to GB7926-2005, improving to 0.01 mm with linear guides fitted. Best surface roughness is Ra 2.5 micrometres on a single cut. Machine sizes outside the standard range can be built to a customer's working dimensions.

Key Benefits

Why Buyers Choose This Machine

  • Cuts hardened tool steel and carbide profiles that milling and grinding cannot produce economically
  • No cutting force on the workpiece so thin and fragile profiles do not distort
  • V-shaped precision guide rails with P3-grade ball screws hold the wire on the programmed path
  • Positioning precision within 0.02 mm to GB7926-2005 and 0.01 mm with the optional linear guides
  • Standard taper cutting of plus or minus 6 degrees over 80 mm with 15 30 and 45 degree options
  • Best surface roughness Ra 2.5 micrometres in a single cut reduces hand finishing on die work
  • Non-standard working sizes built to order from DK7740 up to DK77120 and larger
Application

Where Auto Wire Cutter DK7745 EDM Earns Its Place

Problems It Solves

  • Hardened steel cannot be profiled by conventional cutters after heat treatment
  • Cutting force from milling distorts thin slender and slotted parts
  • Complex internal contours have no practical tool path with rotating cutters
  • Axis backlash loses profile accuracy on parts with tight tolerances
  • Die clearance and relief angles are difficult to produce without taper cutting
  • Rough EDM surfaces add hand polishing time that a Ra 2.5 micrometre single cut reduces

Who It Is For

  • Die and mould makers cutting punches dies and inserts
  • Tooling departments inside stamping and forging plants
  • Precision subcontract machine shops offering wire EDM as a service
  • Prototype workshops needing complex profiles in small numbers
  • Machinery distributors supplying tool rooms in export markets

Application Scenarios

  • Cutting punch and die sets for stamping tools from hardened steel
  • Producing carbide inserts drawing dies and wear parts
  • Cutting extrusion and profile dies with internal contours
  • Making gear and sprocket prototypes where the form is too small to hob
  • Cutting tapered relief on blanking dies using the taper function
  • Separating and profiling hardened parts already heat treated to final hardness

Comparison

How It Compares With the Alternatives

Standard DK77 machine with V-shaped guide railsV-rail machines hold precision within 0.02 mm; fitting the optional linear guide rails takes that to 0.01 mm, which is the choice when you cut close-tolerance die sets
CNC middle speed wire cut EDMThe middle speed machines reach precision within ±0.005 mm and roughness within 1.0 μm using multiple cuts; the standard fast wire machine is the lower-cost route where a single cut at Ra 2.5 μm is enough
Milling and grinding hardened die componentsConventional cutters lose to hardened material and cannot reach sharp internal corners; wire EDM cuts the profile after heat treatment with no cutting force on the part
Use Guide

Running the Machine

Step 1

Prepare the cut profile as a CNC program and check the start hole position on the part

Step 2

Mount and level the workpiece and ensure a clean electrical contact for the work circuit

Step 3

Thread the molybdenum wire and set the wire tension and running speed

Step 4

Fill and check the water-based emulsion level and flushing at the cutting zone

Step 5

Set the taper angle where relief is required and confirm the upper guide position

Step 6

Run the profile and check the first part for size and surface finish before continuing

Step 7

Keep the emulsion filtered and change it on schedule to hold cutting stability and surface finish
