Injection MouldingRapid Tooling
Tooling produced quickly so the schedule stops waiting on steel

Sanpin Mould · since 2007
Overview
Quick and efficient tool production for programmes where the tooling lead time, not the part design, is what is holding up the launch. Fast turnaround with results that are still worth inspecting, which is the distinction that matters when rapid tooling is done badly.
Problems
What This Fixes
- A launch date that will be missed because of a tooling lead time
- Design changes that arrive after a hardened tool has been ordered
- The cost of a full production tool spent before the design is frozen
- Prototype parts that do not behave like moulded parts because they were not moulded
Benefits
What You Get
- Fast turnaround times that reduce time to market
- High-quality results rather than a tool that only survives a handful of shots
- Feeds directly into low-volume moulding, so the tool has a job after the samples
- Built in the same shop as our production tooling, by the same toolmakers
Who For
Suited To
- Programme managers with a fixed launch date and an unfrozen design
- Teams that need moulded parts for functional testing, not printed ones
- Buyers bridging a gap before a production tool is released
Scenarios
Typical Jobs
- A functional test build in the production resin ahead of design freeze
- A bridge tool covering the first months of demand
- A late design change that needs new parts before the hardened tool is recut
Technical
How It Runs
- Tool production optimised for turnaround rather than tool life
- DFM review applied before cutting, as with production tooling
- Sampling and inspection follow the same T1 review step
- Path defined from rapid tool to low-volume run to production tool

Order Process
How This Job Would Run
The same eight stages apply whether the order is a single tool or a production programme.
Request A Quote
Send the part drawing or 3D file by email. An engineer comes back within 24 hours with a consultation, not an auto-reply.
DFM Report
Before any steel is cut we return a design-for-manufacture report that flags flaws and errors in the design, so they are fixed on paper.
Mould Design & Moldflow
A predictive model analyses how the molten material behaves inside the cavity. Flow analysis settles gating and cooling before tooling.
Mould Tooling Production
Tooling is cut from the steel grade chosen for the application, not from whatever is on the rack.
T1 Sample Inspection
First-trial samples go out for your inspection and review. Errors are identified on T1, before mass production is committed.
Low Volume Production
A low-volume run follows the trial phase, so precision is proven on real machines under expert surveillance before the ramp.
Strict Inspection
Parts are inspected against international tolerance standards and against the specification you supplied.
Delivery
Parts are packaged to survive the journey and released through our logistics partners on a scheduled delivery.
Questions
About Rapid Tooling
How does rapid tooling differ from your production tooling?
It is optimised for speed of production rather than for tool life. We will tell you at DFM stage what the tool is suited to.
Can rapid tooling parts be used for testing?
Yes, they are moulded parts in the real material, which is why teams use them for functional testing rather than relying on printed samples.
What happens after the rapid tool?
It normally feeds a low-volume run. When volumes justify it, a production tool is quoted with the lessons from the rapid tool already applied.
