Deck machinery is judged on two days of its life: the day the anchor has to come up in a rising sea, and the day the surveyor measures the brake holding load. Everything else is maintenance. Our windlasses, winches and capstans are built for AM-2 anchor chain from 12.5mm to 60mm diameter, in stainless steel 316L, aluminium alloy or carbon steel, with electric or hydraulic drive.
Specification notes
Common chain range 12.5mm to 60mm AM-2. Electric supply 220V or 380V at 50Hz or 60Hz, or hydraulic drive. Rated pulls in the range include 10KN, 20KN and 30KN. Single or double wildcat, with removable wrapping end.

Double motor electric drive
The electric machines use two motors rather than one. If an overload takes out one motor, the second still turns the gypsy and the anchor comes home.
Stainless steel 316L, hand polished
On an exposed foredeck a painted machine becomes a paint job. 316L hand polished by our own workers has no coating to fail.
Delivered with the control gear
Control box and electric system accessories ship with the machine, so the yard's electrician has one delivery and one wiring drawing.

How do I tell you what size windlass I need?
Send the anchor chain diameter and grade, the vessel displacement, the height from the waterline to the hawsepipe and the recovery speed you want in metres per minute. That is enough to size the machine and the motor.
Vertical or horizontal?
Vertical puts the drive below deck and leaves only the barrel and wildcat exposed, which suits a small or busy foredeck. Horizontal keeps the gypsy shaft parallel to the deck and suits a chain locker directly under the machine.
Electric or hydraulic?
Electric is simpler where a switchboard feed is available. Hydraulic holds full torque at zero speed, which is what you want for surging chain or holding a mooring line, and it makes sense when the vessel already has a deck ring main.
Can the wrapping drum be removed later?
Yes. The wrapping drum installs or removes according to the user's requirement, so a machine bought for anchor work can be given warping capability afterwards.
What certificate can you supply?
ABS, BV, LR, RINA, DNV and CCS. BV and CCS are the two most commonly requested and most widely accepted. Every product can be applied for the certificate you name on the order.
