Outfitting is where a shipbuilding programme gains or loses weeks. Not because any single door is difficult, but because a deckhouse needs forty of them in the right hand, the right rating and the right cut-out, all at once. We supply the whole outfitting package from one order: fire doors and watertight doors, windows and side scuttles, hatch covers, ventilation, marine steel plate and angle, filters, electrodes and anodes.
Specification notes
Doors in steel, aluminium and stainless steel, watertight, weathertight, gastight and fire rated A60, A30, B15, B0 and C. Side scuttles 250mm, 300mm and 350mm nominal. Marine steel plate and ABS Grade A angle 6mm to 12mm, supplied cut. Nude pallet or wooden box packing.

Made to your general arrangement
Leaf sizes, hands, nominal and frame dimensions and cut-outs are taken from your drawings. A sample drawing is issued for approval before anything is produced.
Correct rating, not the highest rating
A60, A30, B15, B0 and C doors are built on common hardware, so the fire control plan can be followed exactly instead of over-specifying every opening.
Watertightness tested before dispatch
Every door, window, side scuttle and hatch cover is tested for its watertight or weathertight capacity at the factory before packing.

What does A60 actually mean?
The insulation withstands a 60 minute fire on one side while the unexposed side stays within 150 degrees Celsius above the starting temperature. A30 is the same test at 30 minutes. B15 and B0 are B class divisions with lower requirements.
Bolt type or weld type frames?
Weld type is stronger and normal on steel structure. Bolt type avoids hot work, which is why it is used for aluminium frames and for openings in a deckhouse that is already fitted out.
Do you issue drawings before production?
Yes. For windows, side scuttles and hatch covers we issue a sample drawing against your nominal size so the yard can check the cut-out before manufacture.
What sizes of side scuttle do you make?
250mm, 300mm and 350mm nominal are the standard sizes, with hinged deadlight or explosion proof cover options on the same main frame.
Is marine steel plate different from ordinary plate?
Yes. It is produced by mills holding classification society factory type approval, with better corrosion resistance and impurity control, and it is inspected by the society and issued with a ship inspection certificate.
