BMW Sport Pad

An oval outline is harder to blank and deburr than a rectangle, and it is the detail that makes this pad read as a BMW part from across the footwell.

Dimensions are built to your drawing or to a supplied sample. Compound and Shore A hardness are confirmed on the drawing before any tool is cut.

The face on this part

Oval stainless face with six slots cut through to black rubber beneath. It sits in the BMW Sport Pads group, and the photograph above is of the part itself rather than a rendering — what you see is the tread, the outline and the finish as they leave the tool.

Putting a logo on it

Many of our customers require an aesthetic logo to be present on their parts. On steel components we laser etch it, after finishing rather than before, so the mark sits in the finished surface instead of under it.

Why the insert compound is a separate decision

The plate decides how the part looks; the insert decides how it behaves. EPDM for weather and ozone, SBR where cost governs, TPE or TPE-SEBS where a softer touch is wanted. Shore A hardness belongs on the drawing next to the dimensions.

Tooling, and who owns the timing

All tooling is designed and made in house, in the same buildings as the moulding lines in Shanghai and Beijing. That is why parts from a prototype tool take 4 weeks rather than the eight to ten a subcontracted tool would need.

Questions buyers ask

Can I have this face in aluminium instead of stainless?

Yes — brushed aluminium is one of the three finishes buyers most often ask for, alongside sand blasted and polished stainless. The blank changes; the rubber tool does not.

How long before I see a real BMW Sport Pad sample?

Prototype parts in 4 weeks. That window is also when design changes are cheap — our designers will suggest improvements to the part while the tool can still absorb them.

What do you need from us to quote it?

Native SolidWorks, Pro-E or UG files, or STEP. Add the volume, the duty and the delivery country and we can quote tooling and parts together.

How is the material verified?

Beside the press rather than a week away. Hardness and density catch a mis-weighed batch, Mooney viscosity catches a compound that will not flow the same way tomorrow, and ozone and ageing catch what only shows up years later.

Quote the BMW Sport Pad

Send the annual volume and, if you have one, the drawing. Prototype parts follow 4 weeks after a prototype tool.
