Moulding, and then assembly
Some handles leave as a single moulding; others leave as a finished assembly with their metal mechanism already fitted. Both versions of the FIAT handle are in this catalogue, which is the clearest way to see what the assembly step adds to price and lead time.
Long parts warp
A long lever moulding bows if it is gated in the wrong place. The fix is structural — thicken the mounting foot, gate at the heavy end — and it is decided at prototype tool stage, 4 weeks from go-ahead, not after the production tool is cut.
Materials for handles
PP with or without glass reinforcement where stiffness governs, PVC where it does not, and TPE or TPE-SEBS for a soft-touch grip surface. Glass reinforcement changes shrinkage, so it has to be fixed before the tool is dimensioned.
