Why sealed edges matter more than the sheet itself
What a Layer Pad Actually Does
A layer pad is made from polypropylene sheet with four sides and corners sealed or welded. It sits between two objects or surfaces as a protective layer, giving cushioning and insulation against vibration, noise, heat and other environmental factors. It also reduces friction between moving parts and protects delicate surfaces.
In the beverage industry it is used as a divider sheet for moving glass bottles and beverage and food containers, which greatly improves stacking efficiency and saves packaging cost.
Sealed Edges Are the Whole Point
A plain cut sheet leaves the flutes open at the edge. Open flutes collect dust and liquid, fray with handling and catch on bottle necks. Sealing or welding all four sides and corners closes the flutes, removes sharp edges and lets the pad be washed and reused.
Rounded corners matter for the same reason: they survive layer picker handling and do not snag.
Specification Points
Layer pads run from 2 mm to 12 mm at 250 g/m² to 2000 g/m², at 2440 × 1220 mm or any size to request, in the colour you specify. Corona treated, anti-static, conductive, UV resistant and flame retardant grades are available.
Give us the pallet footprint and the pad is cut to it, rather than you trimming a standard sheet on site.
Beyond the Bottling Line
The same pads are used in construction and flooring to protect surfaces during construction or renovation, keeping floors undamaged from heavy equipment, tools and foot traffic.
