Controlair Type Transducer
Six models on the Controlair 500X and 550X pattern, ordered either from a twelve-line part-number table or from a four-field code. This is the range to start from when a 500 series or 550 series unit has failed and the loop has to be back in service.

View specifications →What Goes Wrong
A 500 or 550 pattern transducer fails, and the loop it serves is a standard 4-20 mA to 3-15 psi conversion that any competent instrument can do. What is hard to find quickly is a unit with the same footprint, the same 1/4 NPT and 1/2 NPT ports and the same front-face zero and span screws, so that the replacement goes on the bracket that is already there.
How This Range Solves It
The EAA-500 family is built to that pattern and published against a full selection table: twelve I/P part numbers from 3-9 psi at 90 ohms to 3-120 psi at 260 ohms, and eight E/P part numbers from 615 to 985 ohms. The EAA-550 family covers the same ground in a miniature body with a coded ordering system that reaches 0-120 psig.
Why Buyers Choose This Pattern
Published selection tables
Input, output in psi and BAR, and coil impedance are fixed on the order, not agreed verbally.
Two body sizes
The full-size 500 body for conventional mounting, the miniature 550 body for panels, rails and crowded yokes.
Recalibration headroom
2-60 psig units recalibrate to 3-35 psig and 2-120 psig units to 3-145 psig.
ATEX option on the 550
Option K on 4-20 mA units, with the published note that it voids FM and CSA.
Who Orders From This Range
- Plants holding a single standard I/P spare
- Valve workshops assembling actuator packages to a fixed spring range
- Panel and DIN rail assemblies with no room for a full-size transducer
- Loops that need a zero-based output a 3-15 psi unit cannot give

Which model is the direct equivalent of a standard 3-15 psi unit
The 500-AC configuration: 4-20 mA input, 3-15 psi (0.2-1.0 BAR) output, 180 ohms. In the miniature body the same pairing is the 550-ACT.
What is the difference between the 500 and 550 series
The 500 is the full-size body ordered from a part-number table. The 550 is a miniature electronic pressure regulator ordered from a four-field code, and it reaches zero-based output ranges the 500 table does not list.
Can I get a voltage input on this pattern
Yes. The 500 series E/P table covers 0-5 VDC, 1-9 VDC and 0-10 VDC, and the 550 coding system adds 1-5 VDC.
Do these units need a separate booster relay
No. The pneumatic power amplifier is integral, which is what lets them drive an actuator directly.
