Split Range And High Flow Control
Two requirements turn up together often enough to be treated as one problem: a single control signal that has to drive two final elements across different parts of its range, and an actuator that needs more air than a standard transducer will pass.
Step By Step
- Decide where the split fallsThe T1000 3-15 psig model recalibrates to 3-9 psig or 9-15 psig for split ranging. The PT700 offers a split range start at 4 mA or 12 mA.
- Set each unit separatelyCalibrate each transducer to its half of the range so the two do not overlap or leave a gap in the middle.
- Size the flow for the larger element12 SCFM on a standard T1000, 24 SCFM on the extended range build, 9.0 SCFM on a zero based T1500.
- Check the supply windowExtended range T1000 units take supply to 150 psig (10.4 BAR); zero based T1500 units need between 25 and 150 psig depending on output range.
- Add exhaust capacity if the element has to release fastThe T1000 high relief build exhausts 7 SCFM (336 SLPM) against 2 SCFM on the general purpose build.
- Verify both elements togetherStroke the signal from bottom to top and confirm the handover point behaves as the control strategy expects.
Deliverables
- Transducers calibrated to their half of a split range
- Flow and exhaust figures stated from the datasheet
- Supply pressure windows for each selected range
- A recalibration note for the split points

Which models support split range
Split range operation is a listed feature of the T7800 series. The T1000 4-20 mA, 3-15 psig model can be recalibrated to 3-9 or 9-15 psig, and the PT700 offers a split range start at 4 mA or 12 mA.
What is the highest flow available
24 SCFM (677 SLPM) from the T1000 extended range build at midrange on a 150 psig (10.4 BAR) supply.
How do I get faster exhaust
Order the T1000 high relief build. It exhausts 7 SCFM (336 SLPM) at 5 psig above setpoint, suitable for cylinder return strokes and air hoists.
