Marsh Bellofram Type Transducer

Three models on the Type 1000 and Type 1500 pattern. Both are force balance instruments with an integral volume booster: the T1000 for flow and hazardous area duty, the T1500 for compact and manifold-mounted installations.

T1000 Electro Pneumatic Transducer
The problem

What Goes Wrong

Force balance transducers of this pattern are still the workhorse on valve actuators, damper drives, air cylinders and clutches. When one fails, the replacement has to match not only the signal range but the flow: a unit that passes 6 SCFM will not stroke an actuator sized around 12 SCFM at the speed the process expects.

The answer

How This Range Solves It

The T1000 delivers 12 SCFM (339 SLPM) at midrange, or 24 SCFM (677 SLPM) in the extended range build, and comes in general purpose, high relief, extended range and explosion proof classes from one footprint. The T1500 is the compact instrument, at 6.5 to 9.0 SCFM, with DIN rail and manifold kits for three, five or ten units.

Core strengths

Why Buyers Choose This Pattern

01

Force balance with temperature compensation

A thermistor circuit in series with the coil compensates for temperature on both the T1000 and the T1500.

02

Field reversible

Reverse the signal lead polarity and recalibrate; in reverse acting service the T1000 gives minimum full rated output on signal failure.

03

Four build classes on the T1000

General purpose, high relief with 7 SCFM exhaust, extended range to 150 psig supply, and explosion proof.

04

Manifold assemblies on the T1500

Kits providing three, five or ten mounting points, with ports on the front and the back of every unit.

Who it suits

Who Orders From This Range

  • Valve and damper actuators sized for high air flow
  • Air cylinders, clutches and brakes taking a modulating signal
  • Classified areas needing an explosion proof build of the same pattern
  • Cabinets where several loops share one manifold

FAQ

Questions About The Marsh Bellofram Type Transducer Range

How much air will these pass

The T1000 passes 12 SCFM (339 SLPM) at midrange on a 100 psig supply, and 24 SCFM (677 SLPM) in the extended range build on a 150 psig supply. The T1500 passes a minimum of 6.5 SCFM on the standard range and 9.0 SCFM on the zero based build.

Which one do I need for a hazardous area

The T1000 explosion proof class. Note that it does not carry the external span and zero adjusts fitted to the other builds. The T1500 is available intrinsically safe to FM, CSA and ATEX and in NEMA 4X.

What air quality is required

Instrument quality air: dew point below 35 F, no particle larger than three microns and a maximum oil content of 1 ppm, with every unused port plugged.

Can I mount them at any angle

Yes, but calibrate after mounting. Positions other than vertical need the zero adjustment reset, and for output stability both should be mounted away from vibration.
