AKM-62 Flux-Cored Wire for High-Strength and Low-Temperature Steel Welding.

A seamless metal powder flux-cored wire with ultra-low diffusible hydrogen content, designed for high-strength steel and structures requiring low-temperature toughness, such as ships and offshore platforms.

Welding Wire

Product Overview

AKM-62 is a seamless flux-cored wire with a metal powder core, containing 1.5% Ni and 0.3% Mo, formulated for high-strength steel welding and applications requiring low-temperature rigidity. It meets EN ISO 18276-A:T 55 6 M M21 1 H5, AWS A5.18 E90C-G H4, and GB/T 8110 E90C-G H4 standards.

The wire delivers a soft and stable arc with minimal spatter, a smooth weld bead, almost no slag, and low smoke and dust emissions. Its ultra-low diffusible hydrogen content is ≤3 ml/100g, supporting sound weld metal in critical applications. High deposition efficiency and excellent low-temperature impact performance are key features.

Application: It is suitable for high- strength steel welding and welding of steel str uctures with low-temperature rigidity requirements such as ships and offshore plat form structures.

Key Benefits

Ultra-Low Diffusible Hydrogen

With a diffusible hydrogen content of ≤3 ml/100g, AKM-62 reduces the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking in high-strength and low-temperature applications.

Stable Arc and Low Spatter.

The wire provides a soft, stable arc with minimal spatter, improving weld quality and reducing post-weld cleaning time.

Clean Weld Appearance

The weld bead has a smooth, beautiful appearance with almost no slag and minimal smoke and dust, enhancing working conditions and reducing rework.

High Deposition Efficiency

The seamless design and optimized flux formulation deliver high deposition efficiency, reducing the number of passes and overall welding time.

Where It Is Used

  • Welding of high-strength steels.
  • Structural welding in ships and offshore platform construction.
  • Applications requiring low-temperature toughness and resistance to brittle fracture.

Who It Is For

  • Shipyards and offshore structure fabricators requiring high-performance flux-cored wire.
  • Welding teams working on high-strength steel structures exposed to low-temperature environments.
  • Fabricators needing a wire with low hydrogen content and minimal post-weld cleanup.

Problems It Solves

  • Cracking in welds due to high diffusible hydrogen in high-strength or low-temperature applications.
  • Excessive spatter and slag buildup requiring time-consuming cleaning between passes.
  • Poor weld appearance and high smoke/dust levels affecting site safety and visibility.
  • Inconsistent deposition efficiency to longer welding cycles and higher material usage.

How It Compares

AKM-62 is a metal powder flux-cored wire with ultra-low hydrogen and high deposition efficiency. It differs from solid wires in its ability to produce a clean, slag-free bead with minimal spatter. Compared to other flux-cored wires, its low hydrogen content and Ni-Mo alloying make it suitable for low-temperature applications. It is not intended for use in positions where high slag coverage is required or where a basic-coated electrode is specified for maximum hydrogen control.
