AK-ERCuSn-A TIG and MIG Wire for Copper and Tin Bronze Welding.
A copper-tin alloy wire designed for joining copper, tin bronze, and brass, with good ductility and resistance to cracking in thick-section and repair applications.
Product Overview
AK-ERCuSn-A is a TIG and MIG welding wire formulated for the fusion welding of copper and tin bronze materials. It is particularly suited for butt welding between brass and steel, as well as for repairing copper alloy castings where mechanical integrity and crack resistance are required.
The wire is supplied in accordance with EN ISO 24373 CuSn6P, AWS A5.7 ERCuSn-A, and GB/T 9460 CuSn6P standards. Its chemical composition ensures a balanced alloy with controlled levels of tin, phosphorus, and minor elements to support solidification and mechanical performance in the weld deposit.
Application: Applied to the welding of copper and tin bronze, especially suitable for butt welding of brass and steel, also suitable for repairing copper alloy castings, it is recommended to preheat when welding large and thick parts, and use pulse argon arc welding for multi-layer surfacing welding of steel.
Key Benefits
Good Ductility and Crack Resistance.
The deposited metal exhibits elongation between 20 percent and 25 percent, which reduces the risk of cracking during cooling, especially in thick or complex welds.
Suitable for Brass and Steel Butt Joints.
AK-ERCuSn-A provides reliable bonding between brass and steel components, making it ideal for applications where dissimilar metal joining is required.
Effective for Copper Alloy Casting Repairs.
The wire is recommended for rebuilding worn or damaged copper alloy castings, offering compatibility with the base material and good fusion characteristics.
Stable Melting Range for Controlled Welding.
With a solidus temperature of 910℃ and a liquidus temperature of 1040℃, the wire offers a predictable melting range suitable for both single-pass and multi-layer surfacing operations.
Where It Is Used
- Butt welding of brass and steel components.
- Repair of copper alloy castings.
- Multi-layer surfacing welding on steel using pulse argon arc welding.
- Welding of copper and tin bronze materials in industrial and marine environments.
Who It Is For
- Welding consumable distributors supplying materials for copper and bronze applications.
- Fabricators working with brass and copper components in plumbing, HVAC, and marine systems.
- Maintenance teams performing repair welding on copper alloy castings in power and petrochemical equipment.
Problems It Solves
- Cracking in welds when joining copper alloys with high tin content or in thick sections.
- Difficulty in achieving consistent fusion and ductility when repairing copper castings with mismatched filler metals.
- Lack of a single wire that supports both TIG and MIG processes for copper and bronze welding.

- Use pulse argon arc welding for multi-layer surfacing on steel to control heat input and improve bead appearance.
- Clean the joint surfaces thoroughly to remove oil, oxides, and contaminants before welding.
- Maintain proper shielding gas flow and torch angle to ensure full protection of the molten pool.
How It Compares
AK-ERCuSn-A is a tin bronze alloy wire designed for copper and brass joining. It differs from pure copper wires in its higher strength and better crack resistance due to the controlled tin and phosphorus content. Compared to other copper alloys like CuSn10, it has lower tin and higher phosphorus, which improves fluidity and reduces hot cracking tendency. It is not suitable for applications requiring high electrical conductivity, where pure copper wire would be preferred.
