AK-ER55-D2-Ti CO2 Shielded Welding Wire for High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel.

A solid wire with titanium addition for grain refinement and improved mechanical properties in CO2 or Ar-CO2 shielded welding of 550 MPa tensile strength steels.

Welding Wire

Product Overview

AK-ER55-D2-Ti is a copper-plated solid welding wire designed for gas shielded arc welding using CO2 or Ar-CO2 mixtures. It is formulated for low-alloy high-strength steel structures with a minimum tensile strength of 550 MPa.

The wire contains titanium at 0.20 percent, which contributes to grain refinement in the weld metal and supports the development of good mechanical properties. The base composition includes H10Mn2SiMoTiA disc element, with controlled levels of carbon, manganese, silicon, chromium, molybdenum, copper, and other elements.

It is supplied to AWS A5.18 ER80S-G, GB/T 8110 ER55-D2-Ti, and meets the chemical and mechanical requirements for high-strength structural applications.

Application: It is suitable for welding low-alloy high- strength steel structures with a tensile streng th of 550MPa, such as vehicles, ships, bridges, pipelines, power stati-ons, and containers. High rise buildings, petrochemicals, Chengong machinery, lifting and transportation equipment, boilers and pressure vessels, etc.

Key Benefits

Grain Refinement via Titanium Addition.

The 0.20 percent titanium content promotes finer grain structure in the weld metal, which enhances toughness and reduces the risk of cracking in high-strength applications.

Good Mechanical Properties in High-Strength Steel.

The wire delivers consistent mechanical performance in joints made from low-alloy high-strength steels with a tensile strength of 550 MPa.

Stable Welding Process with CO2 or Ar-CO2.

Suitable for both pure CO2 and Ar-CO2 shielding gas mixtures, providing stable arc characteristics and consistent weld bead appearance.

Copper-Plated Surface for Smooth Feeding.

The copper-plated surface ensures reliable feeding through the wire feeder and reduces wear on contact tips during continuous welding.

Where It Is Used

  • Welding of low-alloy high-strength steel structures with tensile strength of 550 MPa.
  • Vehicle and shipbuilding fabrication.
  • Bridge and pipeline construction.
  • Power station and petrochemical equipment.
  • High-rise building frames and lifting equipment.

Who It Is For

  • Welding consumable distributors supplying high-strength structural welding wire.
  • Fabricators working with 550 MPa tensile strength steels in structural and pressure applications.
  • Contractors in infrastructure, energy, and heavy machinery sectors requiring consistent, code-compliant welds.

Problems It Solves

  • Achieving adequate mechanical properties in welds made from low-alloy high-strength steels without compromising ductility or toughness.
  • Managing grain coarsening in the heat-affected zone by using a wire with grain-refining elements like titanium.
  • Ensuring consistent wire feeding and arc stability in automated or semi-automated welding systems.
