AK-ER55-1CM-Mn Gas Shielded Wire for 1%Cr-0.5%Mo Heat-Resistant Steel.
A solid wire designed for welding 1%Cr-0.5%Mo pearlitic heat-resistant steel with good mechanical properties in service temperatures below 530℃.
Product Overview
AK-ER55-1CM-Mn is a gas shielded welding wire for 1%Cr-0.5%Mo pearlitic heat-resistant steel, suitable for use with CO2 or Ar+5%-20%CO2 shielding gas. The deposited metal meets mechanical property requirements for service temperatures below 530℃.
It is used in the welding of conventional thermal power station components, petrochemical equipment, and other structures made from 1%Cr-0.5%Mo heat-resistant steel. The wire is supplied to AWS A5.18 ER80S-G and GB/T 8110 ER55-B2-Mn classifications.
Application: It is suitable for the welding of 1%Cr-0.5%Mo heat-resistant steel with a welding wor king temperature below 530℃, and is often used in the welding of con-ventional thermal power sta tions, petrochemical equipment and other structures.
Key Benefits
Suitable for 530℃ Service Temperature.
The wire is formulated for use in applications where the operating temperature does not exceed 530℃, ensuring stable performance in heat-resistant steel joints.
Compatible with CO2 and Mixed Gas Shielding.
It performs reliably with CO2 or Ar+5%-20%CO2 shielding gas, offering flexibility in welding setup and gas availability.
Controlled Chemical Composition
The wire has a precise chemical composition with Cr at 0.9-1.2%, Mo at 0.4-0.65%, and Mn at 0.4-0.65%, supporting strength and creep resistance in heat-resistant applications.
Low Sulfur and Phosphorus Content.
Sulfur is limited to 0.025% and phosphorus to 0.030%, reducing the risk of hot cracking and improving weld metal integrity.
Where It Is Used
- Welding of 1%Cr-0.5%Mo pearlitic heat-resistant steel in conventional thermal power stations.
- Fabrication and repair of petrochemical equipment operating below 530℃.
- Structural welding in high-temperature service environments requiring controlled chemistry.
Who It Is For
- Welding consumable distributors supplying heat-resistant steel welding wires.
- Fabricators and EPC contractors working on power plant and petrochemical projects.
- Maintenance teams responsible for in-service repair of heat-resistant steel components.
Problems It Solves
- Matching filler metal chemistry to 1%Cr-0.5%Mo base steel to ensure weld metal properties meet service requirements.
- Sourcing a single wire that meets both AWS A5.18 ER80S-G and GB/T 8110 ER55-B2-Mn standards for international projects.
- Avoiding weld metal degradation in service due to improper alloying or impurity levels.

- Chemical composition: C 0.06-0.1%, Mn 0.4-0.65%, P 0.030%, S 0.025%, Si 0.6-0.9%, Cr 0.9-1.2%, Mo 0.4-0.65%, Cu 0.35%, Ni 0.25%
- Suitable for welding in service temperatures below 530℃.
- Supplied to AWS A5.18 ER80S-G and GB/T 8110 ER55-B2-Mn classifications.
Use Guide
- Select shielding gas based on joint access and weld appearance needs: CO2 for deeper penetration, Ar+5%-20%CO2 for smoother bead and reduced spatter.
- Clean base metal surfaces of oil, rust, paint, and moisture before welding to avoid porosity and contamination.
- Maintain consistent wire feed speed and travel speed to ensure proper fusion and avoid undercut or lack of fusion.
- Store wire in sealed packaging to prevent moisture absorption; re-dry if exposed to humid conditions before use.
How It Compares
For higher creep strength at temperatures above 530℃, a higher alloyed wire such as ER80S-G with higher Cr and Mo levels would be required.
