AK-ER347L Stainless Steel Gas Shielded Wire for Corrosion-Resistant Welding.
A niobium-stabilized stainless steel wire designed for all-position welding of 347 and 321 stainless steels, offering enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Product Overview
AK-ER347L is a gas shielded stainless steel welding wire formulated for all-position welding of 347 and 321 stainless steels. It is designed to provide improved corrosion resistance compared to Type 308 wires, with niobium (Nb) used as the stabilizing element to prevent intergranular corrosion.
The wire meets EN ISO 14343-A:G 19 9 Nb, AWS A5.9 ER347L, and GB/T 29713 S347L standards. It is suitable for welding critical corrosion-resistant steels containing niobium or nickel-chrome alloys where titanium (Ti) is used as the stabilizing element.
Application: Used to weld important anti- corrosion steel which contains Nb or nickel -chrome alloys which Ti as the stabilized element.
Key Benefits
Enhanced Resistance to Intergranular Corrosion.
Niobium (Nb) in the wire composition stabilizes carbon, reducing the risk of sensitization and intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone during welding and service.
Suitable for All Welding Positions.
AK-ER347L is designed for use in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, allowing consistent weld quality across complex joint geometries.
High Corrosion Resistance in Critical Applications.
The chemical composition delivers a weld metal with high resistance to corrosion, making it suitable for use in aggressive environments such as petrochemical and power plant systems.
Consistent Mechanical Properties
The deposited metal achieves a tensile strength of at least 520 MPa, elongation of at least 30 percent, and impact energy of 75 J at minus 60 degrees C.
Where It Is Used
- Welding of 347 and 321 stainless steels in pressure vessels and piping.
- Joining nickel-chrome alloys with niobium or titanium stabilization.
- Critical corrosion-resistant joints in petrochemical and power generation equipment.
- All-position welding in fabrication and maintenance of stainless steel structures.
Who It Is For
- Welding consumable distributors supplying specialty stainless steel wires.
- Fabricators working with 347 and 321 stainless steels in high-corrosion environments.
- Maintenance teams responsible for repairing or upgrading corrosion-prone stainless steel systems.
Problems It Solves
- Intergranular corrosion in welds due to carbon precipitation in sensitized zones during welding of 347 and 321 stainless steels.
- Need for a wire with higher corrosion resistance than Type 308 for critical service applications.
- Lack of a single, stable wire for all-position welding of stabilized stainless steels without compromising corrosion resistance.

Use Guide
- Select wire diameter based on joint thickness and welding position; use recommended shielding gas as per application requirements.
- Clean the base metal surface from oil, grease, rust, and scale before welding to ensure weld quality.
- Maintain proper gas flow rate and shielding gas composition to avoid porosity and oxidation.
- Store the wire in a dry, sealed environment to prevent moisture absorption; avoid prolonged exposure to humid conditions.
How It Compares
AK-ER347L and ER308L both weld stainless steels but differ in stabilization. ER308L uses carbon and chromium for strength but is prone to intergranular corrosion in sensitized zones. AK-ER347L uses niobium to stabilize carbon, offering superior resistance to intergranular attack in high-temperature or corrosive service. For applications requiring titanium stabilization, ER321 is the equivalent, but AK-ER347L is preferred where niobium is the stabilizing element.
