Product Overview

AK-ENiCrMo-3 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum type covered electrode designed for manual metal arc welding of high-alloy materials. It has a nominal composition of 60% Ni-22% Cr-9% Mo-Fe-3.5% Nb+Ta, providing high strength and resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and corrosion in sulfuric acid environments.

The electrode is suitable for welding Ni-Cr-Mo series alloys such as Inconel 601, Inconel 625, ASTM B443, Alloy 20, Incoloy 800, Incoloy 800H, and Incoloy 825. It can also be used for welding 9% Ni steel, cladding on steel surfaces, and dissimilar metal joints between steel and nickel alloys.

AK-ENiCrMo-3 is classified under EN ISO 14172-E Ni 6625, AWS A5.11, ENiCrMo-3, GB/T 13814, and ENi6625. It delivers stable arc performance, a clean weld bead, minimal spatter, easy slag removal, and excellent resistance to porosity.

Application: Suitable for welding Ni-Cr-Mo series alloy.such asInconel 601/625,ASTM B443.Alloy 20, incoloy800,800H,825.can also be used for welding 9%Ni steel;Low hydrogen type manual electrode, can be used for cladding on steel surface.and dissimilar steel welding between steel and nickel alloy.

Key Benefits

High Corrosion Resistance in Harsh Environments.

The high chromium and molybdenum content provides strong resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and general corrosion, especially in sulfuric acid environments.

Stable Mechanical Properties Across Temperature Range.

The deposited metal maintains strength and toughness from low temperatures up to 540℃, making it suitable for service in both cryogenic and elevated temperature applications.

Excellent Weld Metal Appearance and Cleanliness.

The electrode produces a stable arc, a smooth bead profile, minimal spatter, and slag that lifts off easily, reducing post-weld cleaning effort.

Suitable for Dissimilar and Cladding Applications.

It is effective for welding between nickel alloys and carbon or low alloy steels, as well as for cladding on steel substrates to enhance corrosion resistance.

Where It Is Used

  • Welding of Inconel 601, Inconel 625, and ASTM B443 nickel-chromium alloys.
  • Joining of Alloy 20, Incoloy 800, Incoloy 800H, and Incoloy 825.
  • Welding of 9% Ni steel in cryogenic service.
  • Cladding on carbon steel surfaces for corrosion protection.
  • Dissimilar metal welding between steel and nickel-based alloys.

Who It Is For

  • Welding consumable distributors supplying high-alloy welding materials.
  • Fabricators and maintenance teams working with nickel-based alloys and 9% Ni steel.
  • Contractors involved in petrochemical, power generation, and offshore projects requiring corrosion-resistant welds.

Problems It Solves

  • Achieving reliable welds in high-alloy and dissimilar metal joints where standard mild steel electrodes fail.
  • Meeting corrosion resistance requirements in aggressive environments such as sulfuric acid service.
  • Avoiding weld defects like porosity and cracking in high-alloy welds due to poor filler metal selection.
  • Ensuring consistent mechanical properties across a wide temperature range in critical applications.

Use Guide

  • Select electrode diameter based on joint configuration and welding position. Use recommended current settings to maintain arc stability and avoid overheating.
  • Clean joint surfaces thoroughly to remove oil, grease, rust, and moisture before welding to prevent hydrogen-induced cracking.
  • Store electrodes in sealed packaging and re-dry if exposed to humidity before use to maintain low hydrogen content.
  • Remove slag completely between passes to avoid entrapment and ensure sound weld metal quality.

How It Compares

AK-ENiCrMo-3 is a high-alloy nickel-based electrode suitable for welding Ni-Cr-Mo alloys and dissimilar metals. It differs from standard mild steel electrodes like E6013 in composition, performance, and application. While E6013 is for low carbon steel and offers general-purpose welding, AK-ENiCrMo-3 is designed for corrosion-resistant, high-strength joints in aggressive environments. It is not a substitute for low hydrogen electrodes used in carbon steel, but rather a specialized choice for nickel alloys and critical high-temperature or corrosive service.
