AK-EH14 Copper-Plated Low-Sulfur High-Manganese Submerged Arc Welding Wire.
A high-manganese, low-sulfur and low-phosphorus submerged arc welding wire designed for stable arc and clean welds in carbon steel, boiler, pressure vessel, bridge and ship construction.
Product Overview
AK-EH14 is a copper-plated, low-sulfur, low-phosphorus, high-manganese submerged arc welding wire formulated for use with fluxes such as HJ330, HJ350, HJ431, SJ101, SJ102 and SJ105. It is intended for welding carbon steel, boiler components, pressure vessels, bridges and ships.
The wire's chemical composition includes 0.10% carbon, 0.07% silicon, 1.50–1.90% manganese, ≤0.015% sulfur and ≤0.020% phosphorus. This combination supports high tensile strength and good impact toughness in the deposited metal, meeting EN ISO 14171-A S42 4 FB S4, AWS A5.17 EH14 and GB/T 5293 H10Mn2 classifications.
The submerged arc welding process using AK-EH14 delivers a stable arc, easy slag removal and a smooth, visually clean weld bead.
Application: It cooperates with the melting welding HJ330, HJ350, HJ431, or sin tering welding SJ101, SJ102, SJ105 and other alloy steels for welding carbon steel, boiler, pressure vessels, bridges, ships, etc.
Key Benefits
Stable Arc and Clean Weld Bead.
The wire's formulation ensures a stable arc during welding, minimizing spatter and producing a smooth, well-defined weld bead with easy slag detachment.
Low Sulfur and Phosphorus for Toughness.
With sulfur ≤0.015% and phosphorus ≤0.020%, the deposited metal achieves impact values of at least 27 J at minus 40 degrees C, supporting performance in low-temperature service.
High Manganese for Strength.
The manganese content of 1.50–1.90% contributes to high tensile strength, with the deposited metal reaching 480–650 MPa, meeting the requirements of structural and pressure vessel applications.
Compatibility with Multiple Fluxes.
AK-EH14 is recommended for use with HJ330, HJ350, HJ431, SJ101, SJ102 and SJ105 fluxes, allowing flexibility in process selection for different base metal types and joint configurations.
Where It Is Used
- Welding of carbon steel structures.
- Boiler and pressure vessel fabrication.
- Bridge and shipbuilding applications.
- Heavy equipment and mechanical components requiring high weld strength and toughness.
Who It Is For
- Welding consumable distributors supplying submerged arc welding materials.
- Fabricators of pressure vessels, boilers and structural steel.
- Shipyards and bridge builders requiring consistent, code-compliant weld metal.
Problems It Solves
- Achieving consistent weld metal chemistry and mechanical properties in carbon steel joints when base metal composition varies.
- Reducing the risk of cracking and poor toughness in low-temperature environments due to high sulfur or phosphorus content.
- Matching a single wire to multiple flux types without compromising weld quality or process stability.

- Clean the joint surfaces from rust, oil, paint and moisture before welding.
- Follow recommended welding parameters for the selected flux and joint configuration to maintain arc stability and weld quality.
How It Compares
AK-EH14 is a high-manganese, low-sulfur wire designed for structural and pressure vessel welding. It differs from standard low-manganese wires by offering higher tensile strength and improved toughness due to its controlled sulfur and phosphorus levels. When compared to higher-sulfur alternatives, AK-EH14 provides better impact performance at low temperatures. It is not intended for use with non-matching fluxes that do not support the required weld metal chemistry.
