AK-EB2 Submerged Arc Welding Wire for 1.25% Cr-0.5% Mo Heat-Resistant Steel.

A 1.25% Cr-0.5% Mo pearlitic heat-resistant steel submerged arc welding wire designed for use with matching flux to produce weld metal with high strength and toughness in pipeline and structural applications.

Welding Wire

Product Overview

AK-EB2 is a 1.25% Cr-0.5% Mo series pearlitic heat-resistant steel submerged arc welding wire. It is formulated for use with corresponding fluxes such as AKJ105 to produce weld metal with excellent mechanical properties.

The wire is intended for welding 1.25% Cr-0.5% Mo pearlitic heat-resistant steels, including T11 steel, in pipeline structures and other high-temperature service applications. It meets EN ISO 24598-A:S S CrMo1, AWS A5.23 F8P0-EB2-B2, and GB/T 12470 S 55 2 FB-SU1CM standards.

Application: With flux (such as AKJ105, etc.), it is used for welding 1.25%Cr-0.5% Mo pearlitic heat resistant steel, such as T11 steel of heat-resistant steel pipeline structure.

Key Benefits

High Strength and Toughness in Heat-Resistant Applications.

The weld metal produced with AK-EB2 and matching flux achieves tensile strength between 550 MPa and 700 MPa, yield stress of at least 470 MPa, and impact energy of at least 27 J at minus 20 degrees C after post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) of 620 degrees C for 1 hour.

Consistent Mechanical Properties After PWHT.

After PWHT at 620 degrees C for 1 hour, the weld metal maintains impact toughness of 690 J at minus 20 degrees C after 5 hours of treatment, ensuring reliable performance in service.

Controlled Chemical Composition

The wire has a carbon content of 0.05-0.15%, chromium of 1.0-1.50%, and molybdenum of 0.40-0.65%, with silicon at 0.80% and manganese at 1.20%, ensuring balanced strength and weldability.

Compatibility with Standard Fluxes.

AK-EB2 is designed to be used with matching fluxes such as AKJ105, ensuring consistent weld quality and compliance with international standards.

Use Guide

  • Select matching flux such as AKJ105 to ensure proper weld metal chemistry and mechanical properties.
  • Verify base metal and welding procedure qualification to confirm compatibility with AK-EB2 and the intended service conditions.
  • Follow recommended welding parameters for submerged arc welding to maintain consistent bead profile and avoid defects.
  • Ensure proper joint preparation and cleaning before welding to prevent contamination and porosity.
  • Perform post-weld heat treatment at 620 degrees C for 1 hour to achieve specified impact toughness values.

How It Compares

AK-EB2 is a 1.25% Cr-0.5% Mo submerged arc welding wire designed for heat-resistant steel applications. It differs from general-purpose carbon steel wires by its controlled chromium and molybdenum content, which enables higher strength and improved high-temperature performance. It is not intended for use on low-alloy or non-heat-resistant steels. When compared to other heat-resistant wires, AK-EB2 delivers consistent mechanical properties after PWHT, making it suitable for critical pipeline and structural components.
