AK-E347-16 Basic Coated Electrode for High-Quality Welding of Stainless Steel and High-Carbon Steels.
A basic-coated electrode designed for high-strength, high-toughness welds in demanding applications, including structures, vessels, and components made from low-purity or high-carbon steels.
Product Overview
AK-E347-16 is a basic-coated welding electrode for manual metal arc welding of stainless steels and high-carbon steels. It is formulated to deliver high strength and toughness in the deposited metal, making it suitable for critical applications where mechanical performance is essential.
The electrode is designed for use in steel structures, boiler and pressure vessel construction, shipbuilding, vehicle and machinery fabrication, and as a buffer layer when welding onto high-carbon steel substrates. It meets the EN ISO 3581-A:E (19 19) Nb R 1 2 and AWS A5.4 E347-16 classifications.
Application: For welding of steel structures, boiler and vessel construction, vehicle construction, shipbuilding and machinery construction and buffer layer when constru cted on high carbon steel.
Key Benefits
High Strength and Toughness.
The deposited metal achieves a tensile strength of at least 520 MPa and elongation of at least 25 percent, ensuring reliable performance under stress and impact loading.
Suitable for Low-Purity and High-Carbon Steels.
The electrode maintains consistent weld quality when joining steels with elevated carbon content or lower purity, reducing the risk of cracking and ensuring sound joint integrity.
Stable Arc and Controlled Weld Pool.
The basic coating provides a stable arc and controlled molten pool, which supports clean, well-formed welds in all positions with minimal spatter.
All-Position Welding Capability
AK-E347-16 can be used in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, enabling continuous welding without changing consumables.
Where It Is Used
- Welding of stainless steel structures and pressure vessels.
- Boiler and vessel construction requiring high weld integrity.
- Shipbuilding and vehicle fabrication with high-strength requirements.
- Machinery construction involving high-carbon or low-purity base metals.
- Buffer layer welding on high-carbon steel substrates.
Who It Is For
- Welding consumable distributors supplying electrodes for industrial and structural welding.
- Fabricators working with stainless steels and high-carbon steels in demanding environments.
- Contractors in shipbuilding, pressure vessel, and machinery sectors requiring certified, consistent consumables.
Problems It Solves
- Achieving high-strength, high-toughness welds in stainless steels and high-carbon steels where standard electrodes may lead to cracking or poor performance.
- Welding low-purity or high-carbon base metals without compromising weld quality or integrity.
- Maintaining consistent electrode performance across multiple weld positions without requalification or parameter changes.

How It Compares
AK-E347-16 and E308-16 both weld stainless steels, but they differ in chemistry and application. E308-16 is designed for general-purpose austenitic stainless steel welding with lower nickel content. AK-E347-16 contains niobium (Nb) and higher nickel levels, which improve resistance to intergranular corrosion and make it suitable for high-carbon steels and high-temperature service. It is not a direct substitute for E308-16 in all cases.
