AK-E308LT1-1 Flux-Cored Wire for All-Position Welding of 18%Cr-8%Ni Stainless Steel.
A super low carbon flux-cored wire designed for all-position welding of stainless steel alloys, delivering excellent mechanical properties and intergranular corrosion resistance in critical applications.
Product Overview
AK-E308LT1-1 is a super low carbon stainless steel gas-shielded flux-cored wire for manual and automated welding in all positions. It is formulated for joining 18%Cr-8%Ni stainless steel alloys, including AISI 301, 302, 304, 305, and 308, with a deposited metal that exhibits excellent mechanical properties and resistance to intergranular corrosion.
The wire is supplied to the EN ISO 17633- A:T 19 9 L P C / M2, AWS A5.22 E308LT1-1, and GB/T 17853 E308LT1-1 classifications. It is used in petrochemical industries, pressure vessels, and similar high-demand environments where weld integrity and corrosion resistance are essential.
Application: Used to weld 18%Cr-8%Ni stainless steel welding, like petrochemical industries and pressure vessels etc.
Key Benefits
Super Low Carbon for Corrosion Resistance.
With a carbon content of 0.04 percent, the deposited metal minimizes carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion in service environments.
All-Position Welding Capability
The flux-cored formulation allows stable arc performance and consistent weld bead formation in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
Excellent Mechanical Properties
The deposited metal achieves high strength and ductility, with a composition that includes 18.0–21.0 percent chromium and 9.0–11.0 percent nickel, supporting performance in demanding service conditions.
Controlled Alloying Elements
Elements such as silicon (1.00 percent), manganese (0.5–2.50 percent), and molybdenum (0.50 percent) are included to stabilize the weld metal and improve toughness and weldability.
Where It Is Used
- Welding of 18%Cr-8%Ni stainless steel in petrochemical plants.
- Fabrication and repair of pressure vessels and piping systems.
- Construction and maintenance of equipment exposed to corrosive environments.
- Joining stainless steel alloys including AISI 301, 302, 304, 305, and 308.
Who It Is For
- Welding consumable distributors supplying stainless steel welding solutions.
- Petrochemical and pressure vessel fabricators requiring corrosion-resistant welds.
- Maintenance teams working on stainless steel systems in harsh environments.
- Fabricators of equipment where intergranular corrosion resistance is critical.
Problems It Solves
- Achieving intergranular corrosion resistance in stainless steel welds by using a super low carbon filler metal with 0.04 percent carbon.
- Maintaining mechanical integrity and weld quality when joining 18%Cr-8%Ni stainless steel alloys in all positions.
- Reducing the risk of weld cracking and degradation in corrosive service by controlling alloying elements such as carbon, silicon, and molybdenum.

How It Compares
AK-E308LT1-1 is a flux-cored wire with super low carbon content, designed for corrosion-resistant welds in stainless steel. It differs from solid wires like E308L by offering better weld metal deposition efficiency and improved arc stability in all positions. Compared to standard E308 electrodes, it provides enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion due to its controlled carbon level. It is not intended for use where high hydrogen content is a concern, as it is not a basic-coated electrode.
