AK-62M Flux-Cored Wire for Low-Temperature Bridge and Marine Welding.

A seamless rutile flux-cored wire with 1.5% Ni and low diffusible hydrogen, designed for high-impact joints in bridge, port machinery, and shipbuilding applications.

Welding Wire

Product Overview

AK-62M is a seamless rutile flux-cored wire containing 1.5% Ni, formulated for welding structural steels of the same strength grade in bridge, port machinery, shipbuilding, and similar applications. The wire delivers low diffusible hydrogen content in the deposited metal, less than 3 ml per 100 g.

It provides a stable welding arc with minimal spatter and a smooth bead surface, supporting excellent weldability and consistent weld quality across all positions. The deposited metal exhibits strong impact properties at low temperatures, meeting the demands of service environments with cold exposure.

Application: Welding for the same strength grade of bridge, port machinery, ship building and other welding.

Key Benefits

Low Diffusible Hydrogen

The deposited metal has a diffusible hydrogen content below 3 ml/100g, reducing the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking in critical joints.

Stable Arc and Clean Bead.

The rutile flux formulation ensures a stable arc, low spatter, and a smooth, uniform bead surface, minimizing post-weld cleaning and rework.

Excellent Low-Temperature Impact Toughness.

The weld metal maintains high impact resistance at low temperatures, making it suitable for structures exposed to cold climates or service conditions.

Ni-Enhanced Toughness and Strength.

With 1.0-2.0% Ni in the chemical composition, the wire supports improved toughness and strength in the weld zone, particularly in high-demand structural applications.

Where It Is Used

  • Bridge construction and repair.
  • Port and marine equipment fabrication.
  • Shipbuilding and offshore structures.
  • Structural welding of high-strength low-alloy steels.

Who It Is For

  • Welding consumable distributors supplying flux-cored wires for structural projects.
  • Shipyards and marine fabricators requiring low-hydrogen, high-toughness welds.
  • Bridge and infrastructure contractors working in cold environments.

Problems It Solves

  • Achieving low-hydrogen welds in critical joints without relying on post-weld heat treatment.
  • Maintaining impact toughness in welds exposed to low temperatures during service.
  • Reducing spatter and improving bead quality in automated or semi-automated flux-cored welding operations.

Use Guide

  • For 1.2 mm diameter: use voltage range 20-32 V and current 180-300 A.
  • For 1.6 mm diameter: use voltage range 25-35 V and current 250-350 A.
  • Ensure the wire is stored in a dry environment and kept sealed until use to prevent moisture absorption.
  • Clean joint surfaces of rust, oil, paint, and moisture before welding to maintain low hydrogen levels and weld integrity.

How It Compares

AK-62M is a rutile flux-cored wire with 1.5% Ni and low diffusible hydrogen, suitable for structural welding in demanding environments. Compared to basic flux-cored wires, it offers easier arc control and cleaner welds but may have higher hydrogen content than low-hydrogen basic types. It is not intended for applications requiring the lowest possible hydrogen levels. For similar strength and toughness, it is comparable to other Ni-containing flux-cored wires in the E91T1-K2M class.
