AK-50M Flux Cored Wire for All-Position Welding with Argon/CO2 Shielding Gas.
A seamless rutile flux cored wire designed for stable arc, low spatter, and excellent low-temperature impact properties in structural and offshore applications.
Product Overview
AK-50M is a seamless rutile flux cored wire for gas metal arc welding using Argon/CO2 mixed shielding gas. It is formulated for all-position welding with a stable arc, minimal spatter, and a smooth bead surface.
The deposited metal has low diffusible hydrogen content and excellent impact toughness at low temperatures, making it suitable for critical structural applications in harsh environments.
AKWELD supplies AK-50M to EN ISO 17632-A:T 46 4 P M21 1 H5, AWS A5.36 E71T1-M21 A2-CS1, and GB/T 17493 E501T-1M classifications.
Application: Welding for ships, bridges, steel structures, offshore platforms, pipes, pressure vessels, etc.
Key Benefits
Stable Arc and Low Spatter.
The rutile flux formulation ensures a stable arc and minimal spatter during welding, reducing the need for post-weld cleaning and improving weld appearance.
Smooth Bead Surface
The wire produces a well-formed, uniform bead with excellent surface finish, which reduces the need for grinding before coating or inspection.
Excellent Low-Temperature Impact Properties.
The deposited metal maintains high impact toughness at low temperatures, meeting the requirements for structural components exposed to cold service conditions.
All-Position Weldability
AK-50M performs reliably in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, allowing continuous welding without changing consumables.
Where It Is Used
- Shipbuilding and marine structures.
- Bridge and steel structure fabrication.
- Offshore platform construction
- Pipeline and pressure vessel welding.
- Heavy equipment and structural steel joining.
Who It Is For
- Welding consumable distributors supplying flux cored wires for structural applications.
- Fabricators of offshore and marine structures requiring low-hydrogen, high-impact welds.
- Contractors working on pipelines and pressure vessels in cold climates.
Problems It Solves
- Achieving consistent weld quality on structural steel with low diffusible hydrogen and good low-temperature toughness without switching wire types.
- Reducing spatter and post-weld cleanup in high-productivity welding environments.
- Maintaining weld integrity in all positions without rework due to poor bead profile or arc instability.

Use Guide
- Select diameter by joint thickness and welding position: 1.2 mm for thin to medium sections, 1.6 mm for thicker sections.
- Set voltage between 20 V and 30 V and current between 140 A and 250 A for 1.2 mm wire, and 160 A to 260 A for 1.6 mm wire.
- Ensure shielding gas is Argon/CO2 mix with proper flow rate to prevent porosity and maintain arc stability.
- Clean joint surfaces from oil, rust, paint, and moisture before welding to avoid defects.
- Store wire in dry conditions and avoid exposure to humidity; re-bake if moisture exposure occurs.
How It Compares
AK-50M and E71T1-M21 both provide low-hydrogen, high-impact welds in structural applications. AK-50M uses a rutile flux cored wire with Argon/CO2 shielding, offering high deposition rates and smooth bead appearance. Basic flux cored wires may offer lower hydrogen but require stricter storage and handling. Cellulosic flux cored wires provide deeper penetration but produce more spatter and are less suitable for thin sections.
