What This Machine Does
The CW61125N opens the N series of heavy duty turning lathes, running through the CW61140N, CW61160N, CW61180N and CW61200N. These are long-bed machines: workpiece lengths in the series extend to 12m and 16m, with machine weights in the range of 24470kg to 25160kg for the longer builds, so they are chosen where a shaft or roll is simply too long for a workshop lathe. They turn end faces, cylindrical surfaces and internal holes and cut metric, inch, module and pitch threads. The top slide can be powered alone for a short taper, or moved in compound with longitudinal carriage feed so a long taper is turned automatically over the whole length rather than in steps. Drilling, boring and trepanning are also within range. The machines are specified for power, high spindle speed and rigidity, and take heavy cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous parts using carbon and alloy tooling.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Workpiece lengths in the series reaching 12m and 16m for long shafts and rolls
- Five frames from CW61125N to CW61200N so swing is matched to the part
- Automatic long taper turning over the full length by compound feed
- Powered top slide cuts short tapers without a separate attachment
- Drilling boring and trepanning so a long heavy part is not moved between machines
- Metric inch module and pitch threading including long lead screw repair work
- Machine mass of 24470kg to 25160kg on the longer builds gives the damping heavy cuts need
Where CW61125N Heavy Duty Turning Lathe Machine Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- Shafts over a few metres long simply exceed the capacity of workshop lathes
- Long tapers cut in steps leave a stepped profile that will not pass inspection
- Transporting a 12m shaft to a specialist shop is slow expensive and risks damage
- Light machines chatter when heavy cuts are taken at length and finish suffers
- Boring a long part on another machine means re-supporting and re-aligning it
- Old plant lead screws in module or pitch systems cannot be recut on metric-only machines
Who It Is For
- Roll shops and steel plant maintenance departments
- Paper mill and power station workshops repairing long rotors and shafts
- Shipyards machining propeller and line shafts
- Heavy machinery builders needing long capacity turning in house
- Contractors serving industries with oversized rotating equipment
Application Scenarios
- Turning shafts and rolls up to 12m or 16m long
- Long taper turning on tapered rolls in a single automatic pass
- Boring and trepanning internal holes in long heavy components
- Recutting long lead screws and large module threads
- End facing and cylindrical turning on rotor and shaft repairs
- Heavy roughing with carbon and alloy tooling in ferrous and non-ferrous parts

How It Is Built and What Can Be Changed
Operations Performed
- Turning
- End facing
- Taper turning
- Boring
- Drilling
- Trepanning
- Thread cutting
Quality Control
- Bed geometry checked along the full 12m or 16m length of the build ordered
- Steady rest alignment verified against the spindle axis over the bed length
- Spindle run-out and rigidity measured on the assembled headstock
- Test taper cut to confirm the compound feed holds the angle over length
- Full running test at the ordered supply before the machine is dismantled for shipment
Customisation Options
- Frame selected from CW61125N to CW61200N by swing and part weight
- Bed length specified for workpieces up to 12m or 16m
- Number and type of steady rests set by the shaft lengths you machine
- Supply voltage frequency and phase built for your site
- Shipping split and case arrangement planned for the length ordered
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Heavy Duty Turning Lathe Machine CW61125H | Both are heavy frames; the N series is specified for the very long beds, with workpiece lengths in the series reaching 12m and 16m |
|---|---|
| CW61125L Heavy Duty Lathe Machine | The L build is chosen for stepless frequency conversion speed control; the N series is chosen when length is the limiting factor |
| Sending long shafts to a specialist shop | Machining a 12m shaft in house removes the transport risk and the queue that dominate the repair schedule |
| Taper attachment on a shorter machine | Compound feed turns a long taper continuously over the whole length, which no short bed and attachment can reproduce |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Plan the foundation and the shop bay for the bed length before the machine is ordered
Step 2
Level the bed along its full length during installation and recheck after settling
Step 3
Set steady rests along the shaft before taking the first roughing cut
Step 4
Use the powered top slide alone for short tapers and compound feed for long ones
Step 5
Check the taper on a test cut before committing a long workpiece
Step 6
Carry out boring and trepanning without unclamping the part where possible
Step 7
Maintain lubrication along the full bed and keep the ways clear of swarf

Questions About CW61125N Heavy Duty Turning Lathe Machine
How long a workpiece can the N series take?
Bed lengths in the series cover workpieces up to 12m and 16m. Tell us your longest part and we will confirm the bed length to order.
How heavy is the machine and what foundation does it need?
The longer builds weigh between 24470kg and 25160kg. Tell us the frame and length you want and we will send the installation and foundation drawing.
Which frame should I choose?
CW61125N to CW61200N differ in swing. Send us maximum part diameter, length and weight and we will confirm which frame fits.
Can it cut a taper over the full length of a shaft?
Yes. Longitudinal carriage feed is combined with top slide feed so a long taper is turned automatically rather than in steps.
Can it bore and trepan as well as turn?
Yes. Drilling, boring and trepanning are within range, so a long heavy part need not move to a second machine.
How is a machine this size shipped?
It is prepared and cased for sea freight from Xi'an on FOB CFR or CIF terms. Tell us your destination port and we will plan the shipment around the bed length.
What are your payment terms?
30 percent by T/T on order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
