Product Overview

This kraft paper cushion making machine, also called a cushion pad forming machine, takes paper in roll form and converts it into a crumpled protective pad. It runs a single layer or two layers, and the 2-layer feed gives a stronger cushion effect than one layer. The 2-ply reel itself is made on our Paper Cushion Rewinding Machine, so the two machines are usually bought and used as a pair.

Manufacturing And Quality

The machine is built at our workshop in Ruian, Zhejiang. UDEM has issued CE attestations of conformity to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC for our honeycomb paper making machine, bag making machine and paper folding machine, referencing EN ISO 12100:2010 and EN 60204-1:2018. A demo machine is kept running in the workshop so the build can be shown and installation supported by video call.

We have engineers who develop new machine functions to customer requirements, and where the current machine cannot meet a requirement we supply a solution instead. Several machines in this range started exactly that way.

Compared With Our Other Machines

The Paper Cushion Rewinding Machine is the upstream half of this pair: it unwinds two reels and rewinds them as one 2-ply reel at up to 80 m/min. This machine is the downstream half that turns that reel into the finished crumpled pad at 25 m/min. Against a fanfold folding machine, the output here is a formed cushion pad rather than a stacked pack for a dispenser.

Use Guide

Decide on 1 ply or 2 ply first; 2 ply gives the stronger cushion and is fed from a reel made on the rewinding machine. Load the 760 mm reel and run at 25 m/min, taking pads off at the bench as the carton is packed. For heavier goods move to 2 ply rather than adding more single-ply paper.
