Fanfold Kraft Paper Folding Machine with C-Fold inline

Two rolls in, one much stronger fanfold pack out

Fanfold Kraft Paper Folding Machine with C-Fold inline built by Emerson Machinery

Product Overview

This is a new design that feeds two kraft rolls at once and C-folds them inline into a single 2-layer paper, then perforates and folds it into fanfold form. The finished paper is much stronger on the surface as a packing cushioning material than a single-layer fanfold pack, which is the point of the extra folding section. At 6500 mm long and 3000 KG it is the largest machine in the folding range.

Key Benefits

  • C-folding two webs inline gives a 2-layer paper that is much stronger on the surface
  • 800 mm working width, the widest fanfold format we build
  • 150 m/min despite the extra folding section, close to the high speed single-layer line
  • One pass covers two roll feeds, C-folding, perforation and fanfolding with no intermediate handling

Application Scenarios

  • Heavy duty void fill for dense or sharp-edged goods
  • Fanfold consumable production where single-layer packs tear at the dispenser
  • Wrapping and layer protection for heavier shipped items
  • Premium fanfold lines for converters differentiating from single-ply packs

Who It Is For

  • Converters who need a stronger fanfold product than competitors sell
  • Packers shipping heavy or sharp items that cut through single-layer paper
  • Distributors adding a premium 2-layer void fill to the range
  • Fulfilment centres standardising on one stronger consumable across product types

Problems It Solves

  • Single-layer fanfold paper tears on sharp-edged or heavy goods
  • Doubling paper by hand at the packing bench doubles labour
  • Running two separate passes to laminate layers adds handling and cost
  • Narrow fanfold packs do not cover the larger carton formats

Technical Features

  • Two roll kraft paper feeding with C-type folding inline
  • Forms one 2-layer paper, then perforation cutting and folding
  • Finished paper is in fanfold type and much stronger on the surface as packing cushioning material
  • 800 mm maximum material width at 150 m/min
  • Unwinding stand rated at 1 Ton, reels up to 1200 mm
  • 3 inch inflatable air shaft
  • Stacking by conveyor

Manufacturing And Quality

The machine is built at our workshop in Ruian, Zhejiang. UDEM has issued CE attestations of conformity to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC for our honeycomb paper making machine, bag making machine and paper folding machine, referencing EN ISO 12100:2010 and EN 60204-1:2018. A demo machine is kept running in the workshop so the build can be shown and installation supported by video call.

Customization

We have engineers who develop new machine functions to customer requirements, and where the current machine cannot meet a requirement we supply a solution instead. Several machines in this range started exactly that way.

Compared With Our Other Machines

The EM-PF500A and the high speed EM-PF500B/PF800B both produce single-layer fanfold packs. This machine is the only one that feeds two rolls and C-folds them into a 2-layer web first, which is why the frame is 6500 mm long against 2800-3500 mm on the others, and why it weighs 3000 KG. Speed sits at 150 m/min, between the 90 m/min base model and the 200 m/min high speed model.

Use Guide

Load both kraft reels on the unwinding stand and thread each web into its side of the C-folding section. Check that the two layers register before the perforating station, since the fold quality decides the surface strength. Run at 150 m/min and collect the folded 2-layer stack from the conveyor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does C-fold inline mean

Two kraft rolls are fed at once and folded into a C shape inline, which forms a single 2-layer paper before perforation and fanfolding.

Why use a 2-layer fanfold paper

It is much stronger on the surface as packing cushioning material than a single-layer pack.

How wide and how fast

800 mm maximum material width at 150 m/min.

How much space does the machine need

6500 x 1600 x 1500 mm, the longest machine in the folding range.

How heavy is it

3000 KG.
