Film is bought by the roll and used by the pallet, which is why cost per roll tells you very little. The number that matters is how many grams of plastic end up on each pallet, and that comes from weight per metre, the width, the number of passes and the prestretch applied.
Our two film grades sit at opposite ends of this. JMSH01 weighs 8.5 grams per metre at 500 mm wide. JMSH02 weighs 3.1 grams per metre at 430 mm wide. That is roughly a third of the plastic for the same thirteen perforations per row.
Containment force. Tensile stress at break drops from 26 kg on the 25 micron grade to 15 kg on the 8 micron grade, and elongation at break drops from 250 percent to 55 percent. On regular, stable loads that margin is not needed. On heavy or irregular loads it is.
With a prestretchable film, every percent of prestretch your machine applies is film you did not buy. A wrapper running well below the film capability is quietly buying more plastic than the pallet needs. The limit is the elongation at break, and the working setting should sit safely below it.
A knitted net covers a pallet face with mostly open space. For loads that only need containment and airflow rather than a continuous surface, it uses far less material than any film. Jiamei has spent more than thirty years developing packaging products and works to reduce the environmental impact of packaging, and this is the most direct way that shows up on a pallet.

View ProductIt depends on what you use now, your load and your wrapper settings, so we will not quote a percentage. The comparison you can make from published data is 3.1 grams per metre for the prestretched grade against 8.5 grams for the prestretchable grade.
On regular, reasonably stable loads usually yes. On heavy or irregular loads the drop from 26 kg to 15 kg tensile stress at break matters. Test with a fork lift turn before committing.
A knitted net is mostly open space, so for the same pallet it puts much less material on the load. Whether it suits the goods is a separate question.
Only if you go below what the load needs. The point is to find that floor deliberately rather than sit well above it out of habit.
Load type, pallet size, weight, wrapper model and the temperature goods are wrapped at. A photo helps if the load is irregular.
