Ventilated Stretch Film JMSH02 and JMSH03

An 8 micron perforated film that arrives already stretched, on 3500 metre machine rolls or 440 metre manual rolls. At 3.1 grams per metre it puts the least plastic on a pallet of any film we make while keeping thirteen holes in every row open.

Product Overview

Ventilated stretch film is designed to maximise the aeration of the product wrapped. Because of its perforated film structure it allows quicker cooling and drying of palletised goods, and it is easy to apply by hand or machine.

JMSH02 and JMSH03 are the already prestretched grades. The stretch is applied during production rather than on your wrapper, so the film arrives at 8 microns and 430 mm wide and goes on the load in that condition. Prestretch is 50 percent and elongation at break is 55 percent, which is a deliberately narrow working range for a film that is meant to be applied gently and evenly.

The reason to choose it is weight. At 3.1 grams per metre this film puts about a third of the plastic on a pallet that the 8.5 gram JMSH01 web does. If your loads are regular and reasonably stable and your priority is less packaging per pallet, this is the grade to start with. It is also the grade to choose if any of your wrapping is done by hand, because the 440 metre manual roll weighs 1.37 kg.

Key Benefits

The lightest wrap per pallet

3.1 grams per metre against 8.5 grams for the prestretchable grade. On a site wrapping hundreds of pallets a week that difference shows up in both plastic purchased and packaging waste.

No prestretch setting to get wrong

The film arrives already stretched, so the wrapper is applying rather than elongating. There is less variation between operators and between machines.

Very long machine rolls

3500 metres on a machine roll at 11 kg means fewer roll changes and less operator time spent at the wrapper.

A genuine hand wrapping option

The 440 metre manual roll weighs 1.37 kg, which is light enough to hold and walk with. Machine and manual formats use the same film, so a site can run both without a second specification.

Air and vapour still get out

Thirteen holes in every row, the same perforation count as the heavier grade, so the ventilation benefit does not disappear with the thinner web.

Tight tolerances on a thin film

Thickness to two microns and weight per metre to five percent, which is what keeps an 8 micron film consistent enough to run at speed.

Who It Is For

This grade suits operations that wrap regular loads and want the lowest packaging weight per pallet, and any site where some wrapping is still done by hand.

  • Fruit and vegetable packhouses wrapping uniform cartons or crates before cooling
  • Breweries and soft drink plants running high pallet volumes on a machine wrapper
  • Dairy and pasteurised goods lines where pallets are consistent layer to layer
  • Frozen snack and chilled food distribution needing fast core temperature
  • Sites with a mix of machine wrapping and hand wrapping at dispatch
  • Buyers under pressure to cut plastic used per shipment

Problems It Solves

Two problems at once, which is why a thin ventilated film exists in the first place.

  • Too much plastic on every pallet when a heavier film is used out of habit
  • Condensation trapped under a solid wrap on warm or damp goods
  • Slow cooling because the wrap blocks the air the chiller is pushing through the pallet
  • Hand wrapping with rolls that are too heavy for the operator to control evenly
  • Frequent roll changes interrupting a high volume wrapping line
  • Inconsistent wrap tension between shifts when each operator sets prestretch differently

Application Scenarios

High volume machine wrapping

A 3500 m roll runs a long time between changes, and because the film is already stretched the result is the same whichever operator loads it.

Hand wrapping at dispatch

The 440 m manual roll at 1.37 kg is light enough to wrap a pallet by hand without the roll fighting the operator.

Produce cooling after wrapping

Uniform cartons of fruit and vegetables wrapped before forced air cooling, where the perforations keep the air path through the pallet open.

Chilled and frozen distribution

Meat, fish and frozen snacks that need to reach core temperature quickly and then hold it through the cold chain.

Plastic reduction programmes

Where a customer or a regulator has set a packaging weight target, moving from a heavy solid film to a 3.1 gram perforated film is a single measurable change.

Pharmacy and healthcare distribution

Cartons and labels that must arrive dry and scannable, on loads that are usually regular enough not to need maximum containment force.

Technical Features

This film is defined by what it does not weigh, so read the numbers with that in mind.

  • Prestretch of 50 percent has already been applied in production. Your wrapper is applying the film, not elongating it.
  • Elongation at break of 55 percent is close to the prestretch figure because most of the available stretch has already been used. Wrap with light and even tension rather than trying to pull the film further.
  • Tensile stress at break of 15 kg against 26 kg for JMSH01. This is the trade you are making for the lower film weight, and it is why very heavy or very irregular loads belong on the thicker grade or on netting.
  • Average thickness of 8 microns at 430 mm wide, on both machine and manual rolls, so both formats behave the same on the load.
  • Thirteen holes per row, the same perforation count as the heavier grade.
  • Weight per metre of 3.1 g, with roll weights of 11 kg for machine rolls and 1.37 kg for manual rolls.

Technical data sheet for Ventilated Stretch Film JMSH02 and JMSH03, prestretched machine and manual rolls. Ventilated stretch film can be customised to your request.

Materials

JMSH02 and JMSH03 are prestretched perforated polyethylene stretch films. Because the elongation is applied during production, the material is already oriented when it reaches you, which is what allows an 8 micron web to be handled and applied reliably.

Jiamei has spent more than thirty years developing packaging products and works to reduce the environmental impact of packaging. This grade is the clearest expression of that on a wrapping line, because it puts roughly a third of the plastic on a pallet that the 25 micron grade does.

Manufacturing Process

The film is extruded as a stretch film web and then perforated in line, so the holes are part of the film structure rather than something punched into a finished reel afterwards. Thirteen holes are formed across each row, which is what gives the wrap its open area while the surrounding web still carries load.

The web is then wound to the roll length and core specified for your line. Prestretchable grades are wound so that the stretch is applied by your wrapper, and prestretched grades are stretched during production so that the film arrives at the width and thickness it will be used at.

Quality Control

Every technical value on this page is written with a tolerance because that is how film is controlled in production. Width is held to five percent, average thickness to two microns, and weight per metre to five percent. Those three numbers together tell you whether a roll will run at the tension your wrapper is set to.

Check an incoming delivery the same way. Weigh a full roll against the stated roll weight, measure the web width, and run one pallet at your normal settings before releasing the batch to the line. A roll that is within tolerance on all three will behave like the sample you approved.

Certifications

Jiamei has not published certificate scans on this website, so nothing is claimed here that we cannot show you. Before you place an order tell us the destination market and the goods the pallet carries, and our sales team will send the documentation that applies to that shipment, together with the material declaration for the resin used in your production run.

If your quality system needs a specific document to open a supplier file, ask for it during sampling rather than after shipment so the paperwork travels with the first order.

Customisation Options

Ventilated stretch film can be customised to your request. The variables that matter most on a wrapping line are roll length, web width, core diameter and the format you need for the equipment you run.

  • Roll length and roll weight matched to the change over interval you want on the line
  • Web width matched to your pallet height and the number of wraps in your cycle
  • Machine rolls for turntable and rotary arm wrappers, manual rolls for hand wrapping
  • Core diameter to suit your mandrel
  • Carton and pallet configuration for your container loading plan

Send the details of your wrapper and your pallet on WhatsApp and we will confirm what can be produced before you commit to a trial order.

Comparison With Other Products

JMSH02 against JMSH01JMSH02 arrives prestretched at 8 microns and 3.1 g per metre. JMSH01 is 25 microns at 8.5 g per metre and stretched on your machine. Choose JMSH02 for the lowest plastic weight, JMSH01 for the highest containment force.
Machine rolls against manual rollsMachine rolls run 3500 m and weigh 11 kg. Manual rolls run 440 m and weigh 1.37 kg. The film specification is identical, so the choice is purely about how the pallet is wrapped.
JMSH02 against solid stretch filmA solid film of similar gauge seals the load. JMSH02 keeps thirteen open holes in every row so heat and vapour can leave the pallet.
JMSH02 against pallet nettingNetting has much more open area and is the better answer for very warm or very irregular loads. Film gives a smoother surface and better protection against dust and handling marks.

Comparison based on the published technical data for each Jiamei grade. Ask for samples of both films if you want to compare them on your own wrapper.

Use Guide

Because the film has already been stretched, the goal at the wrapper is even application rather than maximum tension.

  1. Set the roll on the mandrel with the web running from the top of the roll so the perforation rows sit horizontally across the pallet face.
  2. Anchor the film to a corner of the pallet base and make two full base wraps before starting to climb.
  3. Climb with a fifty percent overlap so every part of the load face carries two layers, then reverse down the load.
  4. Finish with two wraps at the top edge if the load is stable, or carry the film over the top corners if the pallet will be handled by clamp truck.
  5. Cut and tuck the tail into a lower layer rather than leaving it loose, so it cannot catch on conveyor rollers.

Run one pallet at your usual settings before releasing a new batch to the line, and check the corners rather than the flat faces. Corners are where containment force shows first.

Set the wrapper to apply with light steady tension and do not try to elongate this film further. Elongation at break is 55 percent against a prestretch of 50 percent, so there is very little left to pull. If the load will not hold at that tension, the load needs the 25 micron grade or netting rather than more force on an 8 micron web.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions buyers ask before ordering JMSH02 / JMSH03 Prestretched.

What is the difference between JMSH02 and JMSH03

They share the same technical data sheet and the same specification. The difference is the roll format supplied, so tell us whether you need machine rolls of 3500 m or manual rolls of 440 m and we will confirm which reference applies to your order.

Why is this film so much lighter than JMSH01

It is 8 microns thick against 25 microns, and it weighs 3.1 grams per metre against 8.5 grams. That is the whole point of a prestretched grade. The trade is containment force, which drops from 26 kg to 15 kg tensile stress at break.

Can I use it for heavy or unstable pallets

For those loads look at JMSH01 first, or at pallet netting if the load is very warm or very irregular. JMSH02 is at its best on regular, reasonably stable pallets where the priority is the lowest plastic weight.

Do I need to change the prestretch setting on my wrapper

The film is already stretched, so the wrapper should apply it with light even tension rather than trying to elongate it further. If your machine has a prestretch setting, run it at the lowest value that still holds the load.

How heavy is a manual roll

1.37 kg for a 440 m roll at 430 mm wide. That is light enough to hold and walk around a pallet through a full shift.

How long does a machine roll last

A machine roll carries 3500 m and weighs 11 kg. The number of pallets depends on your pallet size and wrap count, so send those figures and we will do the calculation with you.

Does the thinner film still ventilate as well

The perforation count is the same, thirteen holes in every row. The open area is what drives ventilation, and that is unchanged between the two grades.

Which goods is it used for

The same applications as the rest of the ventilated range, including breweries, soft drinks, pasteurised goods, canned foods, pharmacies, dairy, fruit and vegetable, plants, meat, fish and frozen snacks.
