What this group is for

This is the largest group on the catalogue and the one that covers a building envelope end to end — profiled sheet onto purlin, board onto stud, timber onto steel. The three sub-families differ in how the screw makes its hole, which is the first question to settle before head, drive or finish are worth discussing.

• Self drilling: drills, taps and tightens in one action, for steel over 1mm
• Self tapping: forms its thread in a hole you have already made
• Drywall: fine, coarse and hi-low thread forms with a bugle head
• Bonded EPDM washers in 14mm, 16mm and 19mm to seal roof penetrations
