What this sector asks of a fastener
Appliance assembly runs on small screws in high volume, driven by automated tools into thin sheet and into plastic. The size range starts at M1.4 (0#) and much of it never leaves M1.4–M4. What matters is consistency of the recess, because a single cammed-out screw stops a line, and the SEM construction, because a loose washer on a moving line is a defect waiting to happen.
