Is 15 microns thick for a screw of this size?
It is a deliberate specification rather than the default. Thin decorative plating colours a screw; at 15µm the coating is doing the corrosion work.
Why a bugle head on board?
The curved underside spreads the load as the head sinks, so it dimples the facing rather than cutting through it.
