Class A2 fire-rated aluminum composite panel edge showing the mineral core

FR A2 ACP

Class A2 fire-rated panel with a high mineral content core for high-rise facades and public buildings under the strictest fire regulations.

Product Overview

FR A2 ACP At A Glance

Class A2 is the practically non-combustible end of the composite panel range. The plastic core is replaced entirely with a mineral-based compound built on aluminium hydroxide and fillers. In a fire it does not burn, does not release toxic gases and does not produce flaming droplets.

Our A2 panel is classified A2-s1, d0 under EN 13501-1 — the best rating short of A1 — and A2 under GB 8624-2012. ASTM E84 Class A reports are available for North American projects.

Key Benefits

Why Buyers Choose This Panel

01

Approvable on high-rise

Above roughly 24 m most markets require a non-combustible class. A2 is the panel that gets the submission through.

02

Reports in three standards

EN 13501-1 from an EU-notified body, GB 8624-2012 from the National Center for Building Materials Testing, and ASTM E84 Class A.

03

No flaming droplets

The d0 classification matters for escape routes and for anything above a public entrance.

04

Full architectural finish range

The mineral core does not restrict colour — including the stocked A2 metal series.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

High-rise residential and commercial facades

The usual code trigger for a non-combustible class.

Airports, stations and transport hubs

Large public buildings with strict escape-route rules.

Hospitals, schools and public buildings

Where the fire strategy governs the material, not the look.

Tunnels, plant rooms and industrial enclosures

Interior linings under a fire specification.

Who It Is For

  • Facade engineers and fire consultants
  • Main contractors on code-regulated projects
  • Architects writing a non-combustible specification
  • Importers supplying regulated markets

Problems It Solves

  • A submission rejected on fire classSending the code reference with your enquiry lets us specify the panel and attach the matching report before you order.
  • Re-cladding after the factOn a 50,000 m² facade, choosing B1 where A2 was required can mean re-cladding the building. The rating is the cheapest decision on the project.
  • Mineral core that will not stay flatA2 core is roughly 50% heavier than PE and harder to laminate. Flatness is controlled on the same lamination line and checked per batch.

How To Specify And Order

  • Send the code referenceBuilding location, height and the local code clause decide the class.
  • Ask for the report before you orderCertificates and recent test data are available on request.
  • Allow for the extra weightAn A2 core is roughly 50% heavier than PE — check the substructure and the fixing calculation.
  • Plan the fabricationA2 routs and folds, but tooling wear is higher. Tell your fabricator what core they are cutting.
FAQ

FR A2 ACP FAQ

What exactly does A2-s1, d0 mean?

Under EN 13501-1, A2 is the practically non-combustible class, s1 is the lowest smoke production, and d0 means no flaming droplets. It is the best rating short of A1.

Do you have test certificates?

Yes — EN 13501-1 (A2-s1, d0) from an EU-notified body, GB 8624-2012 A2 from the National Center for Building Materials Testing, and ASTM E84 Class A for North America. Certificates and recent test data are available on request.

How much more does A2 cost than standard panel?

Around 1.8–2.2× the price per m² of a standard PE-core panel, and the core is roughly 50% heavier.

Which fire rating does my project need?

It depends on local code and building height and use. As a pattern: high-rise above about 24 m usually needs A2; mid-rise commercial and public buildings need A2 or B1; low-rise and interior partitions are often acceptable in standard core. Send us the code reference and we will specify.
