Grade 409 is a thermostable ferritic stainless steel with better oxidation and corrosion resistance than carbon steel. This titanium stabilised sheet was developed for automotive exhaust systems, and its formability, weldability and corrosion resistance carry it into other applications. It is supplied cold rolled from 0.3 to 3 mm and hot rolled from 3 to 120 mm, in widths to 2000 mm and lengths to 12000 mm.

Use Guide
- Select cold rolled below 3 mm and hot rolled above it
- Form with generous radii, as ferritic grades have less elongation than austenitic sheet
- Weld with a stabilised or matching filler to protect the heat affected zone
- State the finish on the order, since 2B, No.4, BA and No.1 behave differently in forming
