Home with rooftop solar and a wall-mounted battery illuminated at dusk

Industry application

Power that stays on when the grid does not

Households, cabins, holiday homes and small rural properties in markets where outages are routine, export tariffs are poor, and a generator is the only current alternative.

In short. ZCForest supplies residential energy storage from 345 Wh portable units to wall-mounted home batteries, plus 3.6–7.2 kWp solar canopies with 7–22 kW Type 2 charging. All storage uses LiFePO4 cells rated for 2,000 cycles.

Industry pain points

What keeps costing money

Outages that stop the household

Routers, lighting, fans and refrigeration all fail together, and a generator brings fuel, noise and exhaust into the solution.

Solar generated at midday, needed at night

Without storage, the surplus is exported at a tariff well below what the evening kilowatt-hour costs to buy back.

A roof that is full, shaded or facing wrong

Some houses simply cannot take more modules, which is where a driveway canopy adds capacity.

Batteries that stop holding charge

Portable products built on chemistries rated for a few hundred cycles fail in the third year of daily use.

Charging an EV on the evening peak

Plugging in at 18:00 is the single most expensive time to do it in most tariff structures.

What customers need

The brief, in practice

  • Chemistry chosen for safety in a building people sleep in
  • Enough cycle life to justify a fifteen-year view
  • Solar input so the system recharges without the grid
  • A charging schedule that follows the tariff
  • Equipment certified for the local market

Typical scenarios

Where this shows up

01

Homes in unreliable-grid markets

Backup that runs the essentials silently, indoors, with no fuel to store.

02

Off-grid cabins and holiday homes

Solar-recharged storage where a connection was never worth the cost.

03

Households adding an EV

A driveway canopy that shelters the car, charges it, and sends the surplus to the house battery.

04

Outdoor, camping and emergency use

Portable LiFePO4 stations from 345 Wh with wireless pads, USB-C PD and 500 W pure-sine AC.

FAQ

About residential & off-grid projects

Portable unit or wall-mounted battery?
A portable station covers backup for essentials and outdoor use, and needs no installation. A wall-mounted home battery covers whole-house shifting of solar generation. Many households end up with both.
Why does ZCForest ship only LiFePO4 for home use?
Safety and cycle life. Lithium iron phosphate has a far more benign thermal-runaway profile than nickel-rich chemistries, and home batteries are now expected to last 15–20 years rather than 8–10.
How many years will the battery last?
The portable range is rated at 2,000 cycles before significant capacity loss. In daily-cycling use that is a materially longer life than a typical NMC portable station.
Can the system be certified for my country?
Certification is arranged per destination market as part of the OEM/ODM package. Tell us the country and we will confirm what is required.
