What This Machine Does
The TPT1600 range pressure tests the coolant circuits of cylinder heads and cylinder blocks, so a crack or a porosity leak is found on the bench rather than after the engine is back in the vehicle. The head is clamped, the circuit is sealed and pressurised at 4 to 5 bar, and the part is submerged in a heated stainless steel tank where escaping air shows as bubbles. Heating matters because many cracks only open at working temperature: the tank carries two changeover 4500 Watt heating elements with an electronic adjustable thermostat, a water level control and a daily or weekly heating programmer, so the tank is at temperature when the shift starts. A 360 degree electrically powered roll-over fixture turns the head to any face, and a hydraulic cradle lift handles heavy heads without a crane. TPT1600 takes parts to 1250 mm long, TPT1600L to 1350 mm.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Finds cracks and porosity in heads and blocks before the engine is rebuilt around a faulty part
- Testing at 4 to 5 bar in a heated tank exposes cracks that only open at working temperature
- 360 degree electrically powered roll-over fixture brings any face of the head to the operator
- Hydraulic cradle lift positions heavy cylinder heads without a crane or a second person
- Two changeover 4500 Watt elements with electronic adjustable thermostat hold tank temperature
- Daily or weekly heating programmer brings the tank up to temperature before the shift starts
- Stainless steel tank with heat barrier and water level control for a safe working station
Where Cylinder Head Pressure Tester TPT1600 Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- A cracked head that passes visual inspection fails again once the engine is running
- Cracks that close cold and open hot are missed by an unheated test
- Heavy heads are awkward and unsafe to lift and rotate by hand
- Machining a core that later proves cracked wastes the machining time entirely
- Waiting for a tank to heat up at the start of every shift loses working hours
- Long commercial heads do not fit test tanks sized for car heads
Who It Is For
- Cylinder head reconditioning shops
- Engine rebuilders who want cores checked before machining
- Truck bus and plant workshops overhauling heavy engine heads
- Machine shops offering head testing as a service to local garages
- Distributors equipping head reconditioning lines in export markets
Application Scenarios
- Pressure testing a cylinder head suspected of a coolant leak into a cylinder
- Checking a used head before investing machining time in it
- Testing cylinder block coolant circuits for porosity
- Verifying a head after crack repair or welding
- Incoming inspection of cores in a head reconditioning line
- Testing long commercial engine heads up to 1350 mm on the TPT1600L

How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Visual crack inspection | A visual check misses hairline cracks and porosity; pressurising the coolant circuit at 4 to 5 bar in a heated tank shows them as escaping bubbles |
|---|---|
| Cold water pressure testing | Cracks that only open at temperature stay closed in a cold tank; the two 4500 Watt elements and thermostat bring the test up to working temperature |
| Testing after assembly in the vehicle | Finding the leak on the bench avoids stripping a rebuilt engine a second time, which is the most expensive way to discover a cracked head |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Fill the tank and set the thermostat, using the programmer to heat it before the shift
Step 2
Clamp the head or block and fit the sealing plates over the coolant circuit openings
Step 3
Pressurise the circuit to between 4 and 5 bar
Step 4
Lower the part into the tank using the hydraulic cradle lift
Step 5
Rotate with the 360 degree fixture and watch each face for escaping bubbles
Step 6
Mark any leak points then release pressure and lift the part out
Step 7
Check the water level control and top the tank up between jobs

Questions About Cylinder Head Pressure Tester TPT1600
What is the difference between TPT1600 TPT1600L and TPT1700?
Capacity. TPT1600 takes parts up to 1250 mm long and 400 mm wide, TPT1600L up to 1350 mm long and 425 mm wide, both to 300 mm high, with the TPT1700 covering larger work again. Send us your biggest head and we will confirm the model.
At what pressure does it test?
The clamping system allows tests at a pressure of 4 to 5 bar on the coolant circuit.
Why does the tank need heating?
Many cracks only open at working temperature. The tank carries two changeover 4500 Watt elements with an electronic adjustable thermostat so the test is done hot.
Can it handle heavy cylinder heads?
Yes. A hydraulic cradle lift positions heavy heads and a 360 degree electric roll-over fixture turns them, so no crane or second operator is needed.
Can it test cylinder blocks as well as heads?
Yes. It is used for pressure testing of cylinder head and cylinder block coolant circuits within the size limits of the model.
What sealing plates do I need?
Sealing plates and adaptors depend on the engines you handle. Send us the engine families you test and we will quote the plate set with the machine.
What are your payment and trade terms?
FOB CFR and CIF. Payment is 30 percent by T/T on order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
