How It Compares

Against Screen printed webbing

Printing is cheaper and faster for text and flat shapes, and for many jobs it is the sensible answer. Jacquard costs more up front because of the plate but the mark is structural, so it survives washing and abrasion.

Against Woven labels sewn onto a strap

A label has to be attached, which adds an operation and an edge that can catch or fray. Jacquard puts the same information into the strap you were already using.

Against Embroidered webbing

Embroidery adds thickness and stitch holes. Jacquard keeps the tape at one thickness across its width, which matters where the strap passes through a buckle.

Questions Buyers Ask About Jacquard Webbing

How long does a first jacquard order take

Longer than plain tape. Plate making, threading and machine adjustment all happen before the first good metre, which is why jacquard runs at lower efficiency than a plain weave. Sample time is 3 to 7 days and production 7 to 15 days once the strike-off is approved.

Is jacquard cheaper than printing my logo on the webbing

Usually not on a first order. After a ribbon is woven you can screen various words or patterns onto it, and that is generally cheaper than weaving the same detail directly. Jacquard earns its cost where the mark has to survive washing and wear.

How fine can the woven detail be

It depends on the tape width and the yarn count. Fine serif text on a narrow tape will thicken as it weaves. Send the artwork and the intended width together and we will tell you before you pay for a plate.

Will my second order look the same as the first

Yes, provided you quote the same plate reference and we reserve the dye lot for the ground. We keep the plate on file for exactly this reason.
