What is your minimum order quantity
1000 metres per colour and width on standard production, and some items run from 100 metres. The figure depends on the construction, so ask about what you actually need rather than assuming.
How long do samples take
3 to 7 days for samples. Production is 7 to 15 days once the sample and the colour are approved.
What thickness and width can you weave
Thickness from 0.65 mm to 2.5 mm, or custom. Width is made to your request rather than picked from a standard range.
Can you match a specific colour
Yes, to a Pantone number or to a physical swatch you post to us. We send a woven sample for written approval before the bulk dye lot is committed, and we reserve one dye lot for the whole order.
Can you weave or print our logo on the webbing
Both. A computer jacquard plate weaves the logo into the tape so it cannot peel. Screen printing after weaving is generally cheaper for short runs and text heavy artwork.
Do you provide test reports
SGS testing is arranged on request before shipment. Tell us at quotation stage which properties you need reported.
What payment terms do you accept
T/T, Western Union and PayPal.
How is the webbing packed
50 yards per roll and 30 rolls per carton as standard, with some items on 500 yard rolls. We pack to your own roll length and carton list when you have one.
Which shipping terms do you work on
EXW, FOB or CIF, depending on your freight arrangements.
Do you accept OEM and private label work
Yes. Most of what leaves this mill is woven to a customer's own drawing and shipped under their name.
Technical Questions About Each Construction
Does polyester webbing stretch under load
Far less than nylon or polypropylene. Polyester's low moisture regain of about 0.4 per cent means it behaves almost the same wet as dry, so a strap tensioned in the rain does not lengthen the way a nylon one will.
Will the colour fade in sunlight
Polyester has light resistance second only to acrylic among common fibres. After 600 hours of sun exposure the strength loss is around 60 per cent, comparable to cotton, and shade holds better than on most dyed synthetics.
How much lighter is polypropylene webbing than polyester
About 30 per cent. Polypropylene sits at 0.90 to 0.92 grams per cubic centimetre against polyester at roughly 1.38 to 1.40, which is why it is the lightest fibre in general textile use.
Will polypropylene webbing fade outdoors
Its light and heat ageing resistance is weaker than polyester. Adding an anti-ageing agent during spinning improves it considerably, and we do that as standard for straps you tell us will live outside.
How long does a first jacquard order take
Longer than plain tape. Plate making, threading and machine adjustment all happen before the first good metre, which is why jacquard runs at lower efficiency than a plain weave. Sample time is 3 to 7 days and production 7 to 15 days once the strike-off is approved.
Is jacquard cheaper than printing my logo on the webbing
Usually not on a first order. After a ribbon is woven you can screen various words or patterns onto it, and that is generally cheaper than weaving the same detail directly. Jacquard earns its cost where the mark has to survive washing and wear.
What does yarn count mean on cotton webbing
Count measures how much yarn length makes up a fixed weight. One pound of 10s measures 10 times 840 yards. The larger the number the finer the yarn, so 40s gives a lighter, thinner, softer tape and 10s gives a thicker, heavier, coarser one.
What is the difference between ring spun and rotor spun cotton tape
Fibres in ring spun yarn lie closely and evenly, packed loose inside and tight outside. Rotor spun yarn is arranged more loosely. Ring spinning gives less hairiness and a better surface, which is visible on a finished strap.
How do you specify elastic webbing
Give us the relaxed width, the thickness, the stretch percentage you need and whether recovery should be soft or firm. Those four figures describe the tape far better than a written description does.
Can elastic webbing carry a woven logo
Yes. A computer jacquard brand name can be woven across the face. Bear in mind the pattern reads slightly differently relaxed and extended, so tell us which state matters to you.
Can you match cord to the webbing on the same order
Yes, and it is worth asking for. We dye both from one colour reference and check them against each other rather than only against the swatch, which is how a matched set actually stays matched.
Do you supply cord already cut to length
Yes. We can cut and tip to your finished length so you skip that operation, or supply on rolls if you cut in house.
Is printing cheaper than weaving my logo into the tape
For most short runs, yes. After the ribbon is woven you can screen words or patterns onto it, which is generally cheaper than weaving the same detail directly. Jacquard becomes worthwhile when the mark must survive heavy washing and abrasion.
How well does the print survive washing
A properly cured screen print holds up well to normal use, but it will never match a woven jacquard mark for abrasion life. If the product is laundered industrially, weave the branding instead.
What is a bookbinding headband actually for
It is applied to the head and tail edges of a trimmed book block in hardcover binding. It conceals and finishes the folded sections of the signatures while revealing the sewing threads, and it adds to both the structural integrity and the finished appearance of the book.
Should I choose cotton or linen headbands
Cotton is flexible and easy to adhere, so it is convenient to apply. Linen offers higher strength and durability but is less pliable and may require a second application to achieve a smooth finish. Line speed usually decides it.
