How It Compares
Knitted elastic is softer and cheaper but narrows more when stretched. Woven elastic holds its width, which matters where the tape runs through a channel or a buckle.
Rigid tape gives a fixed length under load. Elastic is for anything that has to accommodate movement or a range of body sizes.
Cord is for drawstrings and toggles. Flat elastic webbing distributes pressure across a width instead of cutting a line into the material.

Why does my elastic tape measure narrower than ordered
Almost always because it was measured under tension. We record relaxed width after setting and relaxation, and we recommend you measure the same way.
